Why is everyone treating Dillon like a god this year

Dillon has always been good, but he is not the reason that the Pats are winning this year, they win all but 1 game last year, now they win all but 1 game this year and its all because of Dillon!!!

i mean i rooted for dillon for ever being a Bengals fan and know he is a great back, now i hate him because of things he says about the bengals and the way that he hurt the team last year, but i am glad people realize his skillz

but he is 4th in rushing yards (his replacement rudi is only 115 behind him)
average yards per carry he is 7th
he is 6th in TDs for a rB
he has fumbled and lost the ball the other team 3 times (the only RB that has more is Duece McAllister)

i dont think these are MVP numbers or numbers that would carry at team.

the patriots are a good all around team...Dillon is not whats making the good...

dont get me wrong, i agree he makes them better...

i just dont get all the hype this year

I hate Dillon. I am a long time Bengals fan... and anyone who bitches as much as him because his own team is crap, shouldn't be on the team. (Chad Johnson comes to mind)

Westbrook is a better and more important player to his team and he has two guys ahead of him on his own team...

i would not put Chad in the same boat as Dillon

Chad puts in more time then anyone i have heard about, sleeping at the stadium since he is up so late reviewing tapes at least a couple times a week

chad wants the bengals to win i feel...he gets frustrated with himself and says things he shouldnt at times, but the difference is after the fact i feel chad might realize he went over the line, while dillon just kept going...

I'm sorry.
Yes you are sorry if you aren't a Bengals fan!!!

As for the game Sunday, it will be interesting how much they throw Dillon at the Bengals rushing defense. I hope it doesn't get ugly 🙁. But I think most will be in for a surprise when the Bengals give the Pats a game. Remember when the Bengals knocked off the 9-0 Chiefs last year? They are a second-half team I'm tellin' ya.

well sort of a 2nd half team...until they lose to the browns with the a winning record and playoffs possibly on the line...remember the went 1-3 the last 4 games last year

anyway...i am not too worried about scoring, but stopping the pats from scoring might be hard...we need our defense to show up like they did against the broncos...not like the browns game

WHO-DEY!

Dillon IS a big part of the Patriots success this year, and if not for the year Manning is having, he'd be in the running for MVP in my opinion. Do you realize the Pats top FOUR cornerbacks have been injured most of the year? Ty Law, Tyrone Poole, Asante Samual and Eugene Wilson. Their starting CB's are undrafted Randall Gay and practice-squad flunkie Earthwind Morland. The Patriots also lost Teddy Washington, arguably the best run stopper up the middle.

With all those hits on defense, the offense has picked up the pace BIGTIME. They've scored >40 points several times already this year and Dillon is a huge part of that success. Teams now must respect the run, which is opening up the long game for Brady. Brady has completed way more bombs this year, due in part of Dillon just being there.

Consider this, the only game Dillon missed this year, the Patriots got smoked by the Steelers. The Patriots had FIVE yards rushing that week and looked terrible.

I think Dillon has been an unbelievable pickup for the Pats this year! 🙂

He gets the hype because New England is the media darling. Corey Dillon is a TERRIFIC back - no doubt - and no question better than brian Westbrook. But everyone who puts on a Patriots uniform gets turned into an instant legend by the media.

yeah i agree he has done a lot of good for the team, but i dont think he is an MVP as he isnt even the best RB this year...

and the pats scored 30+ points 5 times last year and 20+ 9 times

No question? What crack are you smoking?

Dillon: 1300 total yards 9 TDs
Westbrook: 1300 total yards 9 TDs

Dillon had what, 6 straight 1,000 yard rushing seasons to start his career? The only year he didn't was the year he had all those problems in Cincinatti. He's a stud RB. Westbrook catches out of the backfield much better but he isn't nearly as strong of a runner. What makes Westbrook better than Dillon?

Just fyi on Dillon, he has missed a game, so in theory his stats could be higher. Not a big deal, but he is on pace for 1500 yards easy.

One's a power runner and one is a versatile runner/receiver. They are both great and fit well with their teams structure. To say one or the other is much better than the other is folly - except that I am an Eagles fan and Westbrok's my boy... 😛

The Pats are a great team but they have very odd play calling sometime, even with Dillon on their team their very first game (twas against the Colts) they'd line up with all wideouts and throw on every down. Then the one game they needed Dillon (or any running game for that matter) they only make 6 attempts at it and get only 5 yards and completely crushed. Granted you need to go to the air when you're down 24-3 in the first half, but it was still the first half. Maybe they were trying to pull off an improbably comeback by getting lucky? I'd have been more satisfied for them to come out the second half at least halfway attempting to pretend it was 0-0 and establish a completely different plan of attack than a hurry up offense. The pats definately showed a lot of weakness in that one game but have compensated by looking strong ever since.

The funny part is that many power ranking polls have let the Steelers slip back under the radar, even after defeating the Pats and the Eagles back to back there are some polls who have the Steelers in 3rd. After assuming the "big red target", it seems that many portions of the media don't want that target on a team other than Philly or NE, obviously they are going to hype up players like Dillon and T.O. to do so.

Seems like the bookies have the Eagles at #1 right now. It makes me happy, but I don't understand it...

Sorry to quote myself, but I'll take a 35-28 loss any day of the week than a blowout many were expecting. The Bengals played a great game, but the turnovers lost it for them.

Most impressive stat of the game? Total yards, Bengals: 481, Patriots: 351. Cincy is a legitimate team most every week, it's the little mistakes that cost them. We really took advantage of their weak defense this week.
