first it was 14.99/month 2yrs ago. now it;'s 17.99.

and on verizon's page, new subscribers are now charged 21.99

the trend up till 2yrs ago was prices were going down faster than a $2 hooker.

so what happeend?

The point of acquiring an effective monopoly is so that you can raise prices.

You think you got it bad? Check out BellSouth DSL pricing structure. Plus you can't have naked DSL, you must have local phone service with BellSouth in order to have DSL.

256kb = $25
1.5MB = $33
3MB = $38
6MB = $43

Well, they started with a $30 plan with 1.5mbps down (with 3mbps down for NYC). I signed up, but the connection was horrible. For over half the time, it would be slower than their cheaper $15/768kbps plan and even occasionally slower than 300kbps. I switched once my contract was up and use Time Warner cable at the pricier $45/month. Unfortunately, the promised 5mbps is more like 1mbps. I'm eagerly awaiting Verizon FIOS now, as I'm out of choices for broadband (suggestions? My cable lines are serviced by TW, so no Cablevision-based ISPs).
