Why is DDR just now becoming popular?

Just now? I guess if your defintion of "now" spans 9 years (introduced in 1998), then yeah, another good point MIKEMIKE!

Not too shab. You should try and upgrade your equip though when you can (dance mats and TV :p ). Is playing doubles pretty fun? I've been thinking about building another pad, plus i wouldn't mind trying to force other people to play it as well.

DDR is great, it has been out for a while, but i'm still surprised no one thought of it earlier (Bandai thing and the NES powerpad don't really count). I need to play it more, it's the best way to exercise...as long as no one is looking. I always play DDR at 3 am when no one else is up so i'm not embarrassed :p

Well I don't play any better on metal arcade pads than I do on these (I actually play better on these) so a $600 pair of metal pads isn't worth the upgrade IMO. And as for the TV, as long as I can see the notes I don't care either.

Doubles is fun, as long as you can play it without hurting yourself. Take it slow, learn the steps (a lot of different kinds of crossovers and whatever in doubles) and don't give up.

I think I might've broken the right pad in my drunken DDR rampage last night :(

There certainly aren't many good pads out there to choose from. You can either get a crummy $10 pad or a real high quality one (Cobalt Flux for instance). Everything in between just isn't worth it. I got a couple of $10 pads and improved upon them, so they last much longer now, and i don't have to worry about them moving. PM me if you want more info on my DDR pad mod...thingy.

Thats what I think. I liked a lot of NES game music...but it seemed pretty limited. In a dancing game its all about the music, and I just don't think the cartridge format coupled with the sound chips had the capability to do anything worthwhile.
