Why is CS so Dark during gameplay on my monitor?

I recently installed CS on my brothers computer which was mine a month ago. I have the same exact monitor as him down at school and Cs was fine. Every game i play on his computer is colored beutifully but CS for some reason is really dark. He is running a
1.8ghz p4
geforce 3
19"

I brightened it up all the way but no go, still dark. The tunnel in se_dust for example is very dark an almost impossible to see people

Did you try the gamma setting in cs? Mine goes everywhere from pure black to pure white.

your gamma is off. or your brigtness if turned down

Same problem here too! And that is why when I play CS I don't even THINK about going into that tunnel area

Gamma? My brightness is up pretty high anyway but what is gamma?

i had this problem too... i had to adjust my windows gamma settings.

ya i have no problems, its either software in windows, or your monitor

fixed it. it was gamma in windows

I can't believe ppl still play this game. After all the new games that came out my boys @ the dorm still wanted to do some CS gamin'. Geez isnt a new verison totally different gonna finally come out? I heard I hope cause I get sick of it.:camera:

out of curiousity, how do you adjust windows gamma settings??

basically... go into the display settings of ur control panel... then settings... then advanced...
now depending on whether u use ati or nvidia... the next step might be different. u just want to poke around and look for some sort of "color correction" setting. in there... there should be a place for u to adjust the gamma settings for windows.

glad u got it fixed. u know... sometimes i jack up the gamma in windows... i could see things it the darkest corners. i feel like i am cheating but when the gamma is that high... u'll easily get blinded in brighter areas.
