Why is Crytek scared to leak beta patch?

I just find it funny that you can get OS BETA (SP2, DX9c), VC BETA drivers, tons of beta game patches throughout history, but not Far Cry!!!! WTF! Have they not heard install at your own risk! My God its a game patch. If it works it works, if it does'nt it does'nt. Damn you can get the COMPLETE BETA 64bit OS from Micrsoft. Crytek acts like they are holding the Holy Grail!! Please do not tell me they are holding the patch to protect the consumer. LOFL Spare me 🙂))

Yeah, releasing a beta patch would help ID any bugs that happened to slip through... *shrug* not that big a deal to me really, I tend to shy away from beta-anything (I played EQ for years; I've experienced enough bugs for a few lifetimes). The game works, that's good enough for me.

If it borks the install, not many people would be happy taking 10 mins to reinstall the game, with 5 cd's.

Another good point!

If I have to reinstall the game because patch screws up game BFD. It will not be the first time.

Beta patch, beta video drivers, and beta DX. Thats not really a good mix.

Im glad they arent going to release it untill its ready. Just like Im glad some companies dont release a game before its ready, where as others release one thats obviously still beta.

my only issue is all the places benchmarking an "unreleased" game/gamepatch. kinda like benchmarking with unreleased drivers. imo it's irresponsible to make these types of conclusions based on stuff we can't get.. it's bad enough with hardware (3 months and most ppl still can't get their hands on an XT or Ultra), but we have to do it with software too?

Why are you so concerned with other people and their computers? Why do you care if I use a beta driver? I think I'm old enough to figure what is good or bad for me. It is not like we are debating a safety issue. I do not feel that my life is in danger.LOL Oooooh the monster might reach through the computer screen and rip my head off!!! You are right maybe they better fix that first🙂)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))

you probably won't see that patch for real until service pack 2 is released, unless ms released the directx piece by itself, earlier.

...least that is what I've been reading.

I'm quite sure you are right. Definetly no argument there. I'm sure glad Crytek is there to protect me from myself!

By your logic, companies should release games in alpha stages then.

How their game performs, and the problems people have with it, reflects on them. Releasing a patch, a game, a driver or anything else that is not ready, its not a good idea.

We are talking a patch dude. Gaming Patch! Put a warning:"Use at own risk" Many upon many upon many upon many upon many software companies have done this before and are still in business....that is why it is called beta. Where have you been. GAMING PATCH!!!! Not very severe.

Last I heard that patch didn't work on ATI cards. I'm sure Crytek doesn't want half(give or take) their customer base ticked off. Patches usually are incompatible with previous versions making Online play a huge issue and from what I hear Online Far Cry play is pretty sparse already(could be wrong).

4-6 people on a huge map leads to a lot of looking around. I guess if you like the hunt, you'll like FC Online.

I understand the ATI problem, but I have a Nvidia card (just joking). No seriously, it is that Crytek keeps changing their tune on this patch. First it was the added eye-candy...syke......then it was July 5th......syke......now it is problems with ATI!!!!! Whats next..... it wont work with Doom3 installed on the same OS. At least be honest up front...like id..."its done when its done" 🙂)) That would solve a lot of problems.

How can you say the patch doesnt work with ATi cards? Many hardware sites did a test with the patch installed on ATi hardware. There was one graphical bug, but they said it has since been ironed out.

That's what I heard, if it's not the case Istand corrected.

The patch is now two weeks late which irritates me a lot. Why can't we get the same patch that was given to websites?

I agree and I'm really getting tired of paper launches.

I also heard that the upcoming patch has problems with ati cards. I heard that they wll be utilizing 3Dc in a future patch. Basically, the upcominh patch will benefit nVidia owners, and a future patch may benefit ati owners.
