why is CPUs and Overclocking your favorite ATF subforum?

To answer the question, I came to ATF for the hardware part of the forum, and CPU and GPU are the fastest evolving tech out of that section of the forum.

I haven't explored any of the other sections, because I haven't really been interested in them. After seeing this though, I decided to look at P&N and L&R(eh, I'm single, I could use the help later).

I'll try and look into more later. It's just that I have GW2 installing(First full $60 priced game I've ever bought), and their entertainment seems pail in comparison.😎

These silly forums have just kicked the bucket for now.😛

because the cpu is the central part of a PC, shouldn't the cpu forum be the central part of a PC oriented forum ? 🙂

wait wait wait...dude...you lost me...

I get very excited by faster CPUs, and very excited about software that can utilize multi-core CPUs, that's why I like this subforum most.
Mobile Devices & Gadgets is 2nd because of the ARM CPUs and potential for dethroning the desktop market and Intel...

the way i see it, focus shifts from CPU to VC&G and back in a 6 month cycle.
just before a big CPU release, the discussions are here and VC&G is quite dull in comparison because all that's left there are fanboy arguments.
but just before a big GPU release, this forum tends to quiet down and all the action and rumors appear in VC&G.

My approach to Personal Computing is to get the "right" CPU, and stick with that for as long as is feasible to me, all the while upgrading other various components.

So for that reason, it is what I regard as the single most important component choice I make with every new PC I buy, and why it is the one that interests me the most.

I hate installing all the software that is required everytime you start off with a new PC, so I also try to stick with the same CPU for at least 4 years.
