Why is Coke Zero so delicious?

This cola is delicious. I enjoy the aftertaste, unlike the aftertaste of other diet colas. I know that it's supposed to be better for you than other soft drinks, due to the zero calories and near-zero sugar.

Something about this coke zero feels wrong.

really?? I thought Coke Zero was horrible. I prefer their diet drinks. I can't even drink regular coke anymore.

Splenda > Aspartame

Or at least it's easier to get used to. When you start drinking aspartame drinks it'll taste kind of plain, but after you get used to it regular soda tastes too sweet.

Same here. I'm so used to diet sodas that when I have regular now it tastes to strong/sweet and I don't like it as much.

Because Coke Zero is based on the Coca Cola Classic formula while Diet Coke is based on the "New Coke" formula that died a quick death.

Because it is based on a horrible chlorine-bonded sugar molecule that breaks down into unknown substances in mammals. They tested it on mice, and the chlorine atom "vanished" so the company said "eh" and put it to market in the humans.

For all we know, those chlorine radicals are bonding to your brain cells.

Picture of the molecule "Sucralose" with its unnatural chlorine atoms in place of hydrogen and carbon:

Fixed.

IMO, they aught to make a coke with real sugar, but like half as much as normal.
For now, I will wait for next year's Passover (link).

From the wikipedia article :

This product is not to be confused with "Diet Coke sweetened with Splenda," which is based on the Diet Coke/New Coke/Coke II formula and is sweetened with sucralose (under the trademark Splenda). It is also not to be confused with Coke C2, a 70-calorie variant of Coca-Cola Classic.

In its North American formulation, a 355-ml can of Coca-Cola Zero contains 85 mg of aspartame and 46 mg of acesulfame potassium.

So, you are thinking of something different - this one is flavored with a substance previously banned for being carcinogenic but which has been made legal again.

Except for xylitol (the sweetner, not the forum member), all artificial sweetners taste like a** to me or give me a headache.

As for LordSegan's little rant, totally bogus from a source of constant junk science (not LordSegan, but Joe Mercola and the anti-chlorine activist at Greenpeace (because anything with Cl in it will destroy the world) )

Coca-Cola Zero, aka Coke Zero, is a product of the Coca-Cola company, released in June 2005. It is a sugar-free variation of Coca-Cola Classic, sweetened with a blend of aspartame and acesulfame potassium.

Where is the splenda?

Yeah...when it's cold it's nearly indistinguishable from regular Coke. I'm drinking a ton of it now (lost 5 lbs switching to diet drinks :) ). Hope it doesn't give me cancer heheh.
