I don't know why, they sound extremely obnoxious and annoying!

there are these two girls in this PC lab that are constantly talking in those super fast nasal hums and wahh's yahh's...

don't get me wrong, I'm korean myself. I just want these girls to shut up regardless of what they speak, they just happen to speak the language that I personally think are extremely annoying. :(

it goes same for vietnamese as well... ugh.

(bitchy offensive rant of the day) GARHAHGSDHGAHS!!!!!!!

For me, it's not so much that it's annoying, it just sounds so harsh. Almost like listening to German or something.

I find it annoying when people say stuff like "I'm black, so it's okay for me to have negative attitudes associated with black people." :D

depends who's saying it. you can have people speaking english who you want to punch in the face just for having vocal cords.

spooon - I never thought of it as "harsh"... more energetic than anything else.

Korean can just be as annoying too. I've found that japanese doesn't seem to annoy me. The consensus seems to be that japanese seems to be the cleanest sounding language, then Korean. Chinese then vietnamese... Vietnamese is off the wall throat action.

i hate vietnamese--once i sat through a vietnamese concert--i had to jab myself repeatedly in the ear to lessen the pain.

German is harsh but it's not like OMGSHUTUP inducing like some Chinese dialects. I don't know which one it is that bothers me -- there was this girl standing in line behind me the other day for 45 minutes on her cell phone with "HMMMM YAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH? YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!"

I was going to shove her fricking phone up her ass. I understand certain languages have different inflections which are construed differently but GODDAMIT WHERE IS YOUR VOLUME CONTROL? I find it hard to believe that this dialect MUST be spoken AS LOUDLY AS POSSIBLE.

It's hard for me to judge, having grown up listening to my mom speak Korean. Sometimes it's very penetrating, other times I don't notice it at all.

A few years ago my then g/f and I were on a plane sitting in front of some older Vietnamese lady who was talking continuously in a low monotone.. After about 15 straight minutes of "bing bong wong fong chong bong long.." we were just starting to lose it.. If you got my ex laughing uncontrollably, it would cause quite a scene, and I had to avoid that at all costs..

Chinese is a written language, not a spoken language. Mandarin is the spoken language. Which I don't think is the one you happen to overheard those two girls speaking. Sounds more like Cantonese which does sound harsh to the untrained ears.

Korean and Japanese don't annoy me at all. They both have solid pronunciations (hence their korean/japanese rap actually sounds very good without having to understand it)

They're both calm as well, consistant in tones. They can sound very soft and pleasing to the ears when they say a sentence like... "I would like to drink coffee today."

if you were to say the same thing in vietnamese/chinese, it'd probably sound like this:

"AIII WoulD liiiiiiiiIiiIike tOOo Dr*i*nk! coFFEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE todaiiiii!!!"

ugh. hope you get my drift.

I think your confusing mandarin and cantonese.

Your probaly listening to cantonese. Its kinda harsh, but its not just that. Its an annoying dialect... Many ppl speak it very loud with a lot of crap thrown in like laaa, waaa.. wor, laa lalalala! I find it can be annoying. It also depends on the speakers though. When they get hyper or on a cell... dang...

Mandarin is really sing-songy, yeah...but Cantonese can seem pretty harsh. A girl that I was talking to spoke both Cantonese and Dutch, and the two were fairly similar as far as harshness went.

However, Korean isn't much better. It's maybe not as audibly assaulting when you aren't used to it, but it's still pretty dayam throaty. Then again, I don't think I've heard a language yet that annoys me just by being spoken. Vietnamese can come close sometimes, but even it can sound nice depending on who's speaking.

that was a good movie :p

Yeah cantonese can sound very awful, I just got used to it. Mandarin is much more eloquent and smooth

Don't know how Korean sounds like... only korean I've seen was back when I played D2, the korean players would always say Bing Sing
