why is carpet so expensive??

that doesnt sound right. Im having my bedroom and living room done for like 1300. Thats installation, carpet, pad, and removal of old carpet.

If it includes 4 naked ladies coming over to install it followed by a show, then its not really that expensive.

definitely getting ripped

carpet people are coming today at my house and the room is more than 100 sq ft and its less than 800 dollars for insanely nice carpet. my sister only gets the best...everything in her house is ethan allen, so i guarantee you are getting ripped.

Well, without knowing more details, I'd be willing to bet that you are NOT being ripped off. Carpet has several grades or levels that you can choose from. Buying the cheapest carpet only means that you'll have to replace it in 5 years or so. Also, check what kind of padding is being installed. See if it's the 8 Lb. pad - which is a pretty good pad level right now.

A person who I'm doing work for right now, purchased 80 yards for about $2,100. It's a medium-quality carpet and the wholesaler is a guy I know, so he cut her a bit of a discount. Her previous estimate from another place for similar carpet was $2,400 for 80 yards.

Again, though, to know exactly how good or how bad your deal is, you need to compare "apples" to "apples." Sure, someone could have gotten the same amount of carpet for $1,300 - but, I'll bet it was pretty crappy carpet - from my experience. 🙂

i'm betting it's expensive because seriously, how often do you replace your carpet? they have to make a living.

dude, you need to re-read se7enty7's post, he is paying 1500 for 80sq.ft, thats an area of 8ft x 10ft, 18.75 a sq. ft, you can get nice hard wood floor for under $10 a sq ft installed. $2400 for 80sq. yard is just middle of the line stuff, roughly $3.33 a sq.ft.

bwahaha good one 😀

okay it might be 80sq yards..

It's a living room (size might be 20ishx20ish), hallway (no clue, 3-4 feet wide, by maybe 15-20 long) bedroom (17ishx17ish...)

The guy is also replacing the vinyl floor in the kitchen
