I have played Beethoven, Bach and Mendelsohn on my radio show, but never Brahms or Mariah Carey.
Uh, actually, looking I see that's not true. Never Carey, but I played the 3rd movement of Brahms Violin Concerto and the beginning of the German Requiem some years ago.

You've got a long way to go to reach Salty-level. :p

Well, at least I'm 25% of the way there.

The Jutsu-no-Salty(Technique of Salty) consists of
1. Question for the audience in a thread
2. Bold declaratory statements that enrages the crowd
3. A confident tone

I at least got the first two down. ;)

IMO, Emotions and You're So Cold are transcendental of the times and even a bit of a gateway into the past.

Kind of like the music version of steampunk...like there was ever a Mozart who tailored his "flow" to modern 90s synths and the like..., with just a touch of aggressive Romantic-styled long notes....those two songs have that quality....

LoL people from the same professsion not liking others. More at eleven.

Also, you think Mariah is a great composer, that disqualifies you musically.

I enjoy his Symphony No 1 in C minor, Op 68
Well, I did try to listen to the 1st symphony. Tolerable, not exactly offensive. But it's like...no lyricism and then suddenly the last movement finally injects a lyrical theme into it. Of course he needed master Beethoven's help a bit.

It does take a different mindset. More stream-of-consciousness and just let the moment shine instead of trying to dissect and reverse-engineer the work in-and-out.

Ask your Great Great Great Great Great Great Grandmom.
Grandma was born in 1919. So I only need to go back to the great or great-great-grandma.
A wealthy family from Suzhou isn't going to have access to listen to Brahms. The contempt for the de facto opium subjugation of the time would be so deep-seated that even my mother was taught the taboo of giving blood as a form of whoring out the body.

Bold would be digging up Brahms’ corpse and beating him to a second death with his own piano. Anything less is beta shit.
