Why is BD-R media almost the same price as DVD+R DL?

Not that this is a bad thing, but you'd think since DVD+R DL has been around so much longer it would be much cheaper. You can get BD-R blank media for almost $.75/ea, as opposed to DVD+R DL for ~$.65.

Is DVD+R DL harder to manufacture?

75 cents is probably what they figure the market will bear. The cost to actually manufacture is probably some fraction of that and not a real factor in the pricing.

I was always reluctant to using BD-Rs as data disks being that they were so expensive. I guess now is that time to start using them.
