nothing is wrong with them(insurance companies)...the problem is stupid teenagers who think they are the best drivers in the world...i am one of those stupid teenagers and look what happened to me, this is why insurance is so high! you can thank me later:

dont drive for 8 yrs

heh, when I was 16 it costed me $600 per half year for liability only on a crappy 1986 cavalier.

Now, 10 years later, I am 26, and it costs me $390 per half year for full coverage on a 2003 accord.

I just got a qoute this week on full coverage for an S2000, $590 per half year, still cheaper than the cavalier when I was 16, lol

actually the sooner he starts driving the better. They mainly count years of driving experience/how long you had a license, not how old you are. The best way is to just get a sh*tbox and drive that for a couple years.

Unless the color is coded into the VIN, they dont nail you for color, anymore. They don't ask the color anymore. Atleast the last 3 insurance companies i've had dont. And the 2 I worked for didn't.

Salt is right ... I have a red S10 and color means nothing!!!

Er... wow. If you're serious, I congratulate you for being so candid even if you were retarded enough to literally wrap your car around a telephone pole.

You pretty much nailed it... teenagers think they are good drivers, but they're not. They always talk about thier "skills" and how they "know thier limits." Those are the idiots who drive up insurance rates for the rest of their demographic.

All you ever wanted to know about Blieb's car insurance:

Where in FL? For the following, I've always had full coverage with State Farm.

I lived in the greater Ft. Lauderdale area, with an 86 honda prelude (in 1996), my insurance ran about $200/mo (1200/6mo). I, as most 16 year olds, had an accident, it really wasn't my fault (car parked in the middle of the road, guy in front of me moved out of the way and I had no time to react) .. went up to about $230/mo (1380/6mo).

I came up to Tallahassee, got a 98 S10 (in 1998) ... my insurance went down to $140. Slowly the truck insurance got down to $90/mo (540/6mo) ... then I turned 25 and it went down to $68/mo (408/6mo). Around when I turned 25, I also lowered my deductible to $500 (from $1000)

NOW, I just got a 2003 Acura CL-S, full coverage, $500 deductible, it's running $88/mo (528/6mo) ... the S10 on reduced coverage is $34/mo (200/6mo).

I have all my insurance with State Farm, so I get multiple policy discounts, good driver discounts, etc.

I'm glad you realized you were a stupid teenager. But why the fvsk do I have to pay more? I got my license at 17 and 6 years not a single accident, yet I still have to pay hundreds of dollars of premium because I'm still under 25. F that.

And yes, insurance companies are bloodsucking thieves. First, teenagers do not have accedents that often to justify multi thousand dollar insurance for 6 months. The insurance companies are simply bleeding the younger population while blaming oh-so-high accident rate. Yes, it is higher, but nowhere that high to statistically justify such draconian rates. Second, if they wanted to be fair (or at least bear the appearance of fair), there should have been a first strike policy. The insurance for younger croud should be nearly normal, maybe with 50%-100% premium over normal rates, but if the person were to ever get into an accident where they were at fault, then they should be charged 3-5K from there after because they have proven to be unsafe. But no, they charge everyone those rates. Even the safe drivers like me have to fork out hundrends if not thousands. Face it, they are bleeding us. Third wtf with the male/female rates, that's once again f-n ridiculous. IME experience yes, yound male drivers are more likely to get into serious/fatal accidents, females typically drive more slowly, but they are much more likely to get into smaller accidents, not fatal, but with the car still totalled. And in my experience there are a lot more of cell-phone talking/lipstick applying using rear view mirror/blabbing to their friend on the passenger seat females who don't give a f about the road condition than male ricers on the road. A year or two ago, one such female with a friend on the front seat pulled out of the driveway w/o stopping/checking behind her, the car before me had to sverve out of the way on the opposite side of the road and I had to slam on the brakes. And that f-n bitch didn't even bother to waive her hand to gesture "sorry", she just shifted in drive like nothing happened continuing talking to her friend. I don't even think she noticed that she nearly caused a three car accident. Seriously, the quote from State Farm for my 16 year old sister who should get her license in the next couple of months is still lower than for me, a 23 year old male with a perfect driving record. Once again, FVSK THAT!
