about a week and a half ago ie started hanging when i follow links in threads. itll just freeze for 30-45sec or so, then the window will finally pop up and both pages become responsive again. itll also do it on espn.com sometimes, but nowhere else. and it does not do it every time. im running xp pro w/sp1 and all the latest updates, havent made any hard/software changes to trigger it and spybot/ad-aware are only coming up with a few common tracking cookies. any suggestions?

Try deleting your cache. Tools>Options>Temporary Internet Files>Delete Files.

Our just download Firebird from Mozilla.

some ad banners will do that to IE....yeah deleting your cache is probably the best thing to do right now..

oh yeah, and fire up adaware6/spybot too ..just to make sure..

ok, so this problem still persists. again, when i click on a link in an anandtech thread or when im on espn.com it freezes for a bit. clearing the cache, ad-aware and spybot all do no good, only a restart (and only for a variable amount of time- sometimes days, sometimes hours.) as espn is my homepage and i like to follow links to hot deals here this is getting annoying!
