First, my monitor's BNC cable connections go haywire.

Second, my wife's USB ports start acting strangely, giving weird mouse movement.

Lastly (for now), my Yamaha satellite speaker starts to crackle tonight and appears to be dying.

I'm awaiting the large explosion that signals the end of a PSU in one of my systems. To top it off, my wife's car has a bad starter and had to be towed to the nearest dealer for repair today -- 120 miles away.

I think I'll just renounce all material possessions and join some monastic order. Of course, the Air Force might have a problem with that. Need to talk to Legal tomorrow...

ha ha... You have gremlins. Don't feel bad, my mom has car gremlins following her around. Any car she drives goes to pieces (literally).

How about your mobo going freaky on you, then your friends computer you using for video editing dies. Move on over to the cluster, three machines in a row... die.

Frustrating as hell...

I was wondering what the hell happened to me yesterday. I was checking a couple of older scsi cheetah drives, when I found bad sectors on one. I went ahead and low level formatted it in the controller utilities, to remap the bad sectors. It returned an unexpected error, and from there the drive was dead, and I could not detect it in any utility I tried, inclucing FDISK. Next, I checked the other drive, again showing some bad sectors, so I start low level formatting that one. It doesn't make it as long as the first one. So, 2 dead cheetahs. :( Oh, well...they were old, anyway.

My WD 3.2gb died when I had all my valuable information. My raid died when I had all the stuff I downloaded for days, weeks, even months. I so so regret on file back ups. Now I have norton ghost and problem solve.

Try a UPS for line conditioning

I have a TrippLite on one and an APC on the other.

At least the NEC monitor replacement was easy -- call them up and they ship it out 2 day air. I wonder how long Yamaha will take to respond.

Yeah yeah yeah, we all know you're just making excuses to upgrade

If my wife's mobo does go bad (not entirely sure it's the USB controller, but I'll test this weekend), I may just go ahead and upgrade. Give her my PIII-700@933 and swap out her Duron for a high speed Athlon that I'll use. Then, of course, I'd have to buy a new Radeon 8500...

;)

If they are Cheetahs the odds are they still have some warranty left on them. Seagates great about RMA'ing their SCSI Drives (so is IBM) Of course if they are OEM Drives (Compaq or HP) then you are Sh!t out of luck.
