hi.. another question about cpu .. why is it the intel 866 oe amd athlon is better than the other or vice versa. I play game a lot and just wondering will my choice of processor effect my gaming experience at all? now i'm using an old intel based P2 266MHz and looking to upgrade soon. Will amd athlon be a good choice? (apart from overcloking point of view :)) i heard about intel SSE technology.. so how will this tech. improve the game it self? Will there any incompatibility issue with game if i use amd chip? hmmm i think that's about is for my cpu question..
thank you in advance...;)

p/s: any suggestion and thought will be appreciated :)

Both P3 and T-bird are both good processors. Mhz vs. Mhz they are about even in performance. There's no incompabilites with T-bird in games or anywhere else AFAIK. AMD processors have similar extended instruction set as Intel's SSE called 3DNow! and it's widely supported, too. Athlon is at least as good choice as P3 if not even better.

well from the previous experience i will say pentium give me less pain.the perfomance for both are nearly the same. Both are good. Well..but recently i saw many ppl solve their compatibility problem by using amd.Beside that amd chipset do improved alots. I really think ..amd is best for those who have great knowledge in computing. For a beginner , go for pemtium is the best. You wont have problem to deal with it ..easy setup. thats wat i think.

T-bird has a little more cache than P-III but they perform the same, A Thunderbird is a little cheaper mhz v mhz, I like them both! The pentium III definetly runs cooler, if you get a P-III get a 700E not an EB, they OC great, got mine to 1000 easy only 1.75v
