Why install the 4 in 1's?

I haven't built near as many pc's as the overwhelming majority of those that visit this site but I don't know exactly what the 4 in 1's accomplish. Like I said, I have only built about 5 AMD based pc's for friends and one for myself.
What are they for? Is is for speed, stability, something else?
If I were to install them with my new system that's just around the corner, would I install them after the OS or does it hurt to install them at any time after the system is built?

If neegah no install 4 in 1, neegah no play need for speed

if neegah no play need for speed, niggah no drive BMW 7 series

Your system will run better, faster with more stability, after you install the 4 in 1 drivers. I install the 4 in 1 drivers the first thing after I have the OS installed and running.

install the latest ones to improve performance/stability over the older ones that come with XP.

I recently built a new system and installed XP using different configurations and drivers.

I actually had better benchmarks without the 4in1 installed even though only the INF is installed under XP.

All systems vary based on components. You may just have to experiment for yourself. I am only using the native drivers from XP and have not had any stability problems whatsoever.

Well thanks for the intelligent answers (you know who you are).

That's why I am asking. I have never had to install these and the systems have all run fine thusfar. I just keep hearing about them.
