So email Steve Moreno and bitch.

No kidding, since when did the votes of the people count, it's about time we wake up to this reality. People of power put in office who they choose, our votes have never counted.

A valid ID is needed for alot more than just voting.
Use a credit card to buy something? They will usualy check your ID.

They can ask for your ID, but they cannot require it per their merchant agreement.

Want Beer? Same thing.

I haven't been carded for beer in years... And if I didn't drink it would be a non-issue anyway.

How about a job? Oh yeah ID required.

I suggest you read form I-9 again.

Edit: To be clear, I am completely against non-citizens voting, but I don't think that can be enforced in a way that potentially prevents citizens from voting.

Uh, yeah that's the point. ;) It's a very commonly misspelled word, and it annoys me (probably more than it should). (That's my way of spreading the word that rediculous is not a word)

I'm I the only that didn't miss these things...

Ø A certification copy of a U.S. birth certificate

Ø Certified document of naturalization

These would prove citizenship...

Yes, but his point is that you don't HAVE to have those things, you could use a utility bill instead.

And FWIW, my roommate in college was able to obtain an Indiana state ID card with only a utility bill and a Connecticut driver's license. So I'm not sure that requiring a photo ID would prove much.

To register to vote you have to show proof of citizenship. The voting place will only let registered voters (which have to be citizens) vote.

The point is to make it possible for all citizens to vote. We try to remove as many impediments to citizens voting as possible in this country. This is a result of the time in our history when state and local governments intentionally impeded the right of citizens to vote by requiring them to prove such things as English language literacy. Citizens are not required to speak or read English.

The side effect is that it makes it easier for non-citizens to vote, and that needs to be handled separately without interfering with the ability of citizens to vote.

No one is questioning the registration. What we are questioning is not having to prove that you are the same person who registered.

Citizenship is proven by being on the voter registration roles.

I've never understood why requiring a photo ID for voting is considered discriminatory - so long as one can be obtained easily for a nominal fee.

Because you have to pay for it. For poor people, $25 for a state ID card that they don't need for anything other than voting is a lot of money. If you live in a city you may have no need for a driver's license or ID card.

I've heard some states requrie posession of photo ID at all times(we are serfs after all). At least that's what "they" say here in Virginia.

To become a citizen you are required to be proficient in the English language.

To be a citizen you are not. You can become a citizen though other means than naturalization. You can become a citizen by being born in the United States. You can become a citizen by being born to American citizens in a foreign country.

Also, it's possible that someone could take and pass the naturalization exam while still not being completely fluent in English. Thus, they might feel more comfortable reading in Spanish when possible.

I realize that but what % of those people don't know English? I'd bet it is a very, very small number.

By founders are you just looking at the people who wrote the decleration? Maybe we should also look at the scots-irish poor who moved over, as well as the french and spanish speakers who came in at the same time. These people had a strong effect on how the english language has changed over the years, affecting pronunciation and borrowing words from their own languages.
