It is a possibility, but I think I am more likely to have a threesome with Elisha Cuthbert and Scarlett Johansson than what you are saying to be true.

:Q Someone is alt+tabbing AT forums and porn...

My friends 5200 has 512MB of RAM. Does that make if faster than my 256MB 7900GT then?

2) ALL reviews are from ONE (1) site. That is not 5 or 6.
Granted. I will also wait on final reviews.

3) The review to begin with was an R600 vs an 8800 gtx OC
But that was the review from ONE site wasn't it? Why put stock in the GTX's o/c if your going to discredit the entire review?

4) That review probably scared ATI into making it better
I doubt it.

5) ATI's R600 has to shine or else nobody will want one.
This is your reasoning why it has to be good? Or else nobody will want one? Let me ask you, who would you like to have pinch you to show you that you're dreaming? :)

Guess we will find out soon how accurate anandtech oops I mean dailytech was. Actually I thought NDA ended today?

ATI released a slow version of the R600 to someone they knew would leak benchmarks.

Nvidia fanbois go ape over how slow it is.

ATI released the info that the NDA would be up on May 1 knowing Nvidia would release the Ultra at that time.

Now ATI unveils the real R600 on the 14th, Nvidia has nothing to counter it and ATI gets all the spotlight and publicity from having a faster card then then the early benchmarks and faster then the by now old news ultra.

More noise in the forums, more interest in the cards = more publicity. All good for ATI.

I'm not saying that is what is happening, but it is a possibility.

So you're saying a threesome with Elisha Cuthbert and Scarlett Johansson is impossible?

I think I've just lost my one reason to live. Thanks AMD! GG

I personally have had a threesome with Elisha Cuthbert and Scarlett Johansson.

Therefore, it is possible.

Those are probably the dumbest five reasons I could think of.

2 - Well it means in the same way everybody takes FUDzilla with a bucket of salt, so should you do it with DT
3 - And who says HD2900XT wont have retail OC'd versions too? Plus, it has been confirmed the card has 800 mhz core, while DT tested it at 750
4 - True, stupid point
5 - Actually, as long as it has a decent price (and is promoted well, which is the hardest part concerning AMD/Ati) , people will buy it

1) The difference between 320mb of RAM vs 640mb is far greater than 1GB vs. 768mb. We all know current games use up to 512MB, which is why the 320mb GTS gets stomped, but do they use more than 768mb? You'd have a tough time convincing me of that.

2) Agreed. If you have doubts about DT, then dont take what they say for gospel... Problem solved.

3) Historically speaking, ATI has never allowed vendor OCs outside of their Phantom Edition cards. Sapphire I think had a vendor OC of about 5mhz. Also, who confirmed 800mhz core? Link? That doesnt leave much head room for an XTX version. Also, dont expect a measly 50mhz to make up for the 30fps gap we saw in that review.

4) Agreed. Dumbest thing I've heard in a while. I think they got scared back in Nov. when G80 was released and that's why R600 was delayed for so long. If they were to get scared and try to make it better now, well, LOL.

5) People might buy it, but AMD is going to lose a ton of money.

I am pretty sure the 2900xt has 512mb not 1gb as you proclaim and the 2900xtx that does have 1gb won't be out till June or July if it comes out at all.

Point 4 is irrelevant at this point. AMD\ATI cant make it better and have it out this quarter, much less in 2 weeks.

I dont think the R600 will be crap, but I will be surprised if it is more than 10-20% faster than the G80.

Way too convoluted and doesnt serve ATI at all except put egg on Nvidia fanbois, people who wouldnt buy their product anyways.

A slow preview can only hurt them as people waiting for the R600 may just decide to go with a G80 since the R600 looks like it sucks.
