Why IE 7 sucks for me

I'm sure there have already been threads on this, but this is why I do not like IE 7.

1) When you try to lock your favorites/links toolbar to your Google toolbar, it doesn't save.
2) You cannot remove the search box on the top right corner.
3) The refresh icon is to the right of the address bar and locations of these icons are not customizable.
4) The size of these icons, particularly the forward and backward browsing icons are too small, even in the large icon mode.
5) New tabs cannot opened as a duplicate of your current page.

IE 7, you fail.

Looks like MS is punting in the browser business. I remember after they destroyed Netscape and integrated IE with the OS they figured they had the browser market all to themselves. Thankfully that's changed and now IE7 sux compared to FF and Opera. I think IE7 is awful......poorly featured and just plain ugly.

IE7 is okay. I'm using it extensively at work, as our IT guy is considering deploying it to all the user PC we have there, since we can't get people to use FF. If they are intent on using IE, might as well have them use the newest (and much improved) version.

I'm so used to FF and it's add-ons that it's tough for me to change, but I find IE7 very usable.

Since installing Vista last night, I have to say IE7 seems to work a lot better under it than under XP Pro. Lately in XP I have been noticing that it hangs up on a lot of sites. Usually it does load the page, but sometimes it will just hang up. If I either close and reopen the browser, or boot FF, I can see the page right away. In Vista so far it has been very snappy. Of course, that could simply be that the Vista install is newer and un-screwed-up.

Actually, Microsoft couldn't do anything with IE. If they had added even one more feature, they would have been sued to high heaven (more so) for anti-trust violations. They had to wait until a competitor came out before they could start working on it again.

Since I started using IE7, I've just about stopped using FF. I prefer IE7's interface and the fact that it uses much less memory.

I wouldn't know, I've never been able to get IE7 to load without locking everything up.

There are still some stability bugs I expect to be worked out within the next month or two.

I still don't think tabbed browsing is as orgasmic as FF users have implied. It's cool to be able to refresh all tabs at once, though by the time you read any page you need to refresh the next one anyway. The one thing that is VERY cool is using tabs as your home page......I have six sites open up when I launch a new browser window. The new menu buttons are also a little less obtrusive and more direct. Live Search blows......it should default to searching the current page rather than MSN's search engine, but I suspect this is preceeding the new Microsoft search engine that's supposed to compete with google.

I am not a super serious web designer, but I have built a good 15 sites now and I am totally tired of IE in all version. It just puts up a fight all the time. I check things in four browsers and almost every time it will be IE that chooses to display things differently and its never in a good way. I am not sure the reason, but IE is always a pain in the ass from the web design perspective and I have switched to firefox now for my general browsing.

Since switching to firefox, I hadn't seen a "broken script" dialog in a looooong long time. When I tried using IE7, I was instantly reminded of the bad times. Back to FF for me...

IE7 made an attempt to be as good as FF, got almost there, and then FF upgraded to version 2 and upped the bar even higher.

Since clean install win xp sp2 then windows automatic update installed IE7 over IE6 I find that IE7 is terrible with sun Javascript. I get so many errors message with sun javascript using IE7. should I go back to IE6? how?

IE7 is much quicker then Firefox and lighter feeling but it could also be that I have a lot of extension installed.

Exactly! That's why I don't use RFID-enabled smart cards! Because they're listening. All the time.

Your number (3) just kills it for me. I like all the buttons in one bar and this just wastes space and kills the speed of use.

I like small icons, but I do have the test labels, and I don't like the fixed new buttons in any way, at least give me skins. Maybe one day.

I also have my address bar hidden in 6x to save space and open it only if needed, and I keep Google next to my menu items for searching and other features.

6x takes up less space, looks better, is more customizable and has more features with plugging. I think 7.0 is the worst IE ever.

Same here. We liked FF at our office, but everyone was complaining of the memory issues which eventually caused FF to lock up completely. IE7 isn't perfect but it's running stable for me, and that's all I care about for browsers.
