Yes, but you do have to admit, though, that he does achieve a certain sense of intellighence and credibility when he compares his reflection to me by mentioning my mirror, a sort of double reflection of glory. :D Some might call it yap and mirrors, but I prefer cadidicy.

You can only assume the administration did nothing.

The implosion of a radical society of fundamentalists would take decades,
not months.

The clinton administration spent 8 years cutting the authority and scope of the CIA. Post 9/11, they got much of their operating lattitude restored. So, it's a comedy of errors over an extended period of time that allowed it to happen. Let's be sure it doesn't happen again.
