Unless you enjoy troubleshooting printers and opening up dirty old computer cases, this is why it's better to pretend you're computer illiterate.

LMAO... Seriously. I have a t-shirt that says "No, I wont fix your computer" People ask me about it everywhere.. I'm always thinking if you have to ask why.. you are the reason.

I once went over to this guy's place as my friend was there. I stayed there for about 30 min. and fixed a few internet problems he was having as he switched internet provider.

A few weeks later, when it was 11 p.m, he shows up on my door asking me to fix Windows problems. This is when I was in the middle of writing an essay that was due next day. I tell him that but he insists that I help him.D:

i generally won't work on the computers (or cars, or any other electronic or mechanical device that i may be able to repair) of family or friends. my mom is about the only exception, and she still aggravates the hell out of me.

it wouldn't be so bad if people would at least learn the tiniest scrap of knowledge about items they use every day and spend lots of money on.

Do I use my right turn signal here? Should I come to a complete stop at that stop sign or should I coast through it? Does yellow mean go or stop? omg I thought you said you knew how to drive, why won't you help me with this???

Some of us don't have to pretend. Being a blond woman has its advantages at times. :D

I charge my family. I give them the "discounted" rate, but it's still money and it's still expensive. Makes them think twice about calling me. Then I have the shirts too.

But awesome link.

Haha awesome. That's so much my life, I get ropped in all the time, but now it's too late, unless I fake a car accident and fake brain injury or something.

I get asked to fix computers, TVs, anything else that plugs into the wall and even do electrical. I even had to install a chandalier while I was sick once. Flu + being on ladder = suxor.

I'm pretty much Mr. Fixit of the family. Now I have a slight excuse since I can say I'm busy on my own house. Normally their reply is more like "well I'll bring it anyway, I only need it by Friday so no rush".

It can be a pain in the butt sometimes, but it can be very funny at times, it can sure set you up for favors from people and I am sure not getting into heaven any other way. ;)

Lol, this is true.

I have a "expiration date" when it comes to tech support for friends and family. After a certain point, I'll still fix your problems, but I'm not going to be reliable or timely about it unless you start paying me. I don't mind fixing innocent problems, but if you are screwing up your computer because you are intentionally doing stupid or risky things, don't expect me to waste my time cleaning up your mess.

When I fix someone's PC I usually make a restore image, so next time they bring it I don't even look at the problem for more then 5 minutes, if it's involved I just backup then reimage. I remember there was this lady that I used to fix her PC like at least once a week.
