I've thought about this, and I've finally figured out why I like TA. I've always followed Anand's page, since about the 2nd month he started it. I didn't join out of any loyalty to Anand's team though, I joined because of the bbs (now forum). The DC forum used to be one of the most positive places I've ever found online. I used to be afraid to post in other forums because I would get flamed for being a newbie and not being welcomed on other forums. But I never saw that here. No matter how trivial the question, or how stupid, people would not only take the time to answer it, and they would be nice about it to. How odd. I found a group of people who I could learn from and feel like I was a valud member to to the team.
THat feeling is still there, but it has been tarnished a bit over the past year. I don't want to say it's this person's fault or that person's fault, because we all contribute to the whole of this forum, so we all have to take some blame. But I really feel saddened that someone who posts his opinion on something gets flammed. It reminds me of a shark attack. Once there is blood in the water, the more people come to feed.
I live my life on one principal, treat others as I would like to be treated. Does it mean that other person is always going to treat me that way.....of course not. But I know that I have done what's right and hope that that makes a positive influence on the other person.
I'm not asking everyone to be super nice to everyone, this place would be boring then. But I do ask that all of us, including me, think about how we respond to others. You'd be suprised at how far a person is willing to go for you if they feel like you'd do the same for them.
OK, off of my soap box. Who's up for a game of UT?!? 😉
