so i go to return a compact flash card that i was using for a digital camera and i'm waiting in the return line. I'm standing there watching and there's like 6 guys there but only 2 of them are doing actual returns. The others just look like they're avoiding customers. But after i get halfway through the line, the others start working. I finally make it up to one of the guys and i'm standing there handling my return, when one of the other guys who doesn't seem to be doing anything comes up to the guy helping me and says "Would you have two 100-gig hard drives in your computer?"

At this point i'm like WTF and it'd be cool if the guy helping me was working while talking to that guy, but he just STOPS looking at his screen, turns to the guy asking him the question and is all "yeah i'd like to have two. why do you ask?" and they get into this little conversation RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME. So i'm giving them this 'uhh waht the hell' look and they continue on for a few more seconds and then dude finally finished my damn return. I don't know, but i've got to say that every employee at Fry's should take some customer service classes because they're all irritating to me. Just my rant and two cents.

its corrupted at Fry's...well, at least the one in Dallas

Friend used to work there as CUSTOMER SERVICE/RETURNS and he said, I kid you not, he took breaks and left his duties often even when the line was long, as usual.

Also, he told me never to buy an opened box item since they don't examine it closely enough...corrupted...

Arg, here in San Diego Fryz, returning junk usually takes 45min to an hour. And yes, open box items are barely checked. I returned a case/PSU to them, and my excuse was that the PSU died on me (and yes it did). All the dude did was take a flashlight and look through the back IO to make sure it's clean of my hardware, and to make sure that it has the necessary little box with screws and stuff inside.

Even though the PSU was dead, he looked through for only about 5 seconds, sealed the box, and put the open box/same warranty policy sticker on....I mean wth? That same day, I saw someone else returning the same "David's Own" case....thankfully, I have an Evercase 4252 now :)

oh yeah and don't even get me started on the processor/hard drive/memory department. Waiting in line to get one of the guys to take your order and give you one of those printouts always takes forever. Its like they have 6 guys there but only 3 helping out. Man i swear if some of their stuf didn't have good prices they'd be out of business.

That's why I carry one of those little airhorns you see at sporting events - if they're not listening or paying attention, a couple blasts with that baby will get them to notice you...

Grab your stuff and say, "I'll come back when you guys arent so involved with personal business." Then add "Oh by the way, before I leave, I would like to speak with the store manager."

Grab your stuff and bitch your ass off to the store manager till you get some freebies.

Sorry to say but it sounds like the problem is yours and not Frys, those guys dissed you and you let them. You need to learn to not put up with that kinda BS.
I would have let that crap go on for about a second then I would have let both of those Jerk Offs have it.

yeah i know i should have said something at the time, and saying something would have prevented them from doing it to someone else in the future.

btw, this was at the Sacramento store, but you could pretty much say the same about any of their stores from what i've heard.

best times for returns is 8am in the morning.. or whenever they open. i just happened to go by one in the morning awhile ago, and it was a ghost town.. nobody in sight other than employees..

I wonder how many people scam fry's when they return things. I mean if they only look at things for a few seconds whats to stop someone from exchanging their 2 year old asus mobo for a new asus mobo they bought at fry's and returning it in the box? Probably nothing, same with vidcards and stuff too.

hmm good point... my friend also suggested taking a box of plain white paper, taking out a stack of sheets, and putting in a video card or two
