Are you on winter tires? That's some good control while under braking. I do that as a test often on all-seasons (I know) and it just slides wherever it wants to. Pumping the brakes does jack shit. Oh I guess the 315 width tires don't help either.

You'll always encounter those people not familiar enough on how to maintain control of their vehicle while driving in the snow, act defensively. o_O

Its a new set(over 90% tread) of 33" Hankook Dynapro MT's. Big mud tires. They arnt the best for the snow but in theory it doesnt snow much here, this year has been an anomaly. I knew as soon as i hit the brake i wasnt going to have time to stop and started negotiating it towards the snowbank, i knew the snow would do not damage, its a lifted 4runner. Was only going about 40-45kph(dunno what that is in mph maybe 25)

Dashcam has been great so far, it was a gift from the mother inlaw for xmas and i didnt expect much out of it, but it has surprised me in its ease of use and video quality for the price.

Nice handling. That other car is an idiot.

Consider that most people here would probably have panicked and it would have resulted in a crash. Freaking southern ice eh. :p

Congrats on successfully avoiding them. I've had two close calls so far this year and one of those was pretty similar. I drive through a lot of areas with out of state people (Universities) and two towns with large populations of people from much warmer countries and they are a shit show in the snow. I much prefer it when there are a ton of school closings because then it keeps a lot of them off the roads

looked like the other driver couldn't see anything. from this video (alone) that intersection looks like it should be controlled, either via 4-way stop or lights.

I hear you. University town here too. I've been here for coming up on a year now, and at the start of this snow season there was an overturned pickup in a ditch, NV plates :p Poor guy didn't know what hit him.

My buddy justin i picked up from the skytrain station few min before the video was taken( he's the reason i uploaded it he wanted to show his buddies, then he watched it and requested i change the audio lol, hes also the only reason i was there so i almost didnt edit it as its kinda his fault i was even there) video was taken on 110 ave behind the home depot in surrey, that guy was coming out of the back of the skytrain plot that i had just come out of the other driveway of a block farther down the street, i avoided going out that driveway that he did for the specific reason that you couldn't see shit coming.

Apparently the tree looked alot worse from justins side of the vehicle he thought i was going to hit it when i was sliding towards it :)
