Why I hate animals

What a title for a thread, huh, seeing as how I got 2 dogs and 2 cats.

Well, I never was a cat person, until my wife came along. We actually got cats before we ever got our dogs. But it was my wife's idea. And after a year, I was suprised that I actually liked the cat. And then a year later, we got her a friend. It took me a long time to get used to that cat b/c she's so peculiar. Plus she jumps on the counters all the time too. But eventually I did get used to her, and for a while she'd always come and sit on my lap when I was working at night.

Sadly, I think we're going to have to get rid of the 2nd cat. Perhaps she was inbred or something.....but for whatever reason, just out of the blue, she has massive temper tantrums. Think atomic. If you even walk close to her, she'll go bezerk. The other animals get all crazy when she has her fits.....but they at least stay the hell away from her. But sometimes you can be petting her, and she'll just start hissing....and I mean mean hissing. I'm talking no provocation.....just flailing, hissing, going absolute bonkers. And she's not declawed, and I really don't want to do that (think it's cruel). Most times she's fine....but when your wife is scared of an animal's temper then it's definitely time to get rid of it. It's my wife's cat so I don't think she'll be able to get rid of it. I'll have to do it myself.

That's why I hate animals. You spend all this time getting attached to them, and all of a sudden you gotta get rid of em. My grandfather had a bird dog like that. 5 years he was fine....but after he turned 6 he turned pchizo. Bit nearly everyone in the family....grandmother was scared of him....last straw was one day he got out and chased some neighborhood kids. He was put down the next day.

Anyway. I'm sad. Gonna take the cat to the vet tomorrow and get her checked out, and prolly get rid of her by the end of the week. If the tide was turned and it was my dogs to get rid of, that'd be insanely hard for me. They're like family to me.

Hey I can relate
We have had a cat just like that for 7 years
Sometimes you can pet her for a few seconds
Then out come the claws
Sometimes she will run across the room and claw you from behind for no reason
This is just the temperment of some cats
Every now and then she will approach you purring and rub against you and want attention - But pet her too long and her purring turns to clawing!
I still love her though -

You mean cats are suppost to be like that 😉

I know we have a few siamese cats like that and I always liked the means one a little better than the rest. Yours maybe a little to mean though.

Yes, she's spayed.

I've had a siamese before as a neighbor's cat. She was something else. Nasty isn't a word I'd use.....but just very touchy. She would let someone know in a heartbeat to fvck off. I had to watch her a few times, and I got clawed here and there.

But as far as this cat......it's not like any other cat I've ever seen. We had cats growing up that'd get pissed off and stuff (all outside)...a.nd I've been around a few mean cats too...but this one is like the fires of hell. Not playful....not a bit cute......

I failed to mention she screams like a tortured monkey when she's doing this. But tonight for example......when it came time to put her in her cage......I went to pick her up, and got the full routine again.....so eventually, I calmed her down, but still had to use gloves to pick her up. I just hate it to have to get rid of her. She can be so dang funny....but she's just not for the inside.......

I know what you mean, if a kid suddenly gets annoying I beat it to death too. Hate kids. Sure, the doctor may claim the kid is suffering from hyperactivity, but if it annoys me it needs to die.

Thanks for the thread crap 😉

I don't hate animals. If you read it...you'd see I hate when you get attached to an animal, and have to get rid of it. The cat can't stay inside. When your wife is scared of sleeping with the bedroom door open at night w/o the cat in a cage.....it's time for it to go. Siamese don't hold nothing on this one. I'm gonna get her checked out....but I don't know how I'll be able to find someone to take her into an adoption place (like the SPCA...) b/c I'm not gonna lie to em.

Our dogs are getting on up in age.

One is almost 10, one is almost 13. When it comes time to put them down in a couple of years, my poor wife will be absolutely devastated. It will be hard for me too, I really know it will.

Man, my mother in law has a 17 year old Poodle. When they have to put that one down, I guess they'll just wear black and fly hte flag at half mast. She sleeps a helluva lot, and has pretty weak bowel control (hard wood floors thank god)...but she's even scared to take her to the vet anymore b/c she doesn't wanna be told to put her down. But...she's not in pain. She's old and creaky....but I've still seen her run after a squirrel outside. Poor thing does have cataracts though. If she lives another year or so she'll prbably be blind.

When I was in HS, I went running every day after school. I'd run a 2.5 mile loop....part two lane....part four lane....all sidewalk. My dog back then was 3 yrs old. He'd run w/ me every day and wouldn't need a leash. Would stay right by my side. Mom called me this past summer right as it got hot, and told me he was laying down and couldn't get up. Called the vet and told her it was "time". Mom called me here and said she'd wait a day so I could come home and say goodbye. Told her to just do it today....b/c I couldn't bear to see him in pain like that.

It's amazing how much ppl can love animals (like me). When my dog was hit by car when I was a kid.....I must've cried about it for a week. Still makes me sad thinking about it. If I thought I could put up w/ parrot sh!t all over the house I'd get a big parrot. Grandfather's friend had one for 30 yrs...and when he died his son got it. At least you don't have to put up with seeing it get old and having to put it down.

Have you changed anything in the cat's surroundings, anything at all? Sometimes a change can set them off. New deodorant? New furniture?

Many, many years ago, I had a friend who's cat would do the same thing. It ended up scratching my friend's mom up pretty bad. They took it to the vet, I don't recall what the problem ended up being, but they had to put it down.

My brother has a cat with problems like that and they literally put her on Prozac. Since taking it, some of her problems have improved, she's gotten fat from it, but she's a little more mellowed out now.

we just moved a month ago....but she's been doing this since before we moved. it's just like sometimes a switch flips and she goes ballistic. If I had kids there's no way on god's green earth I'd have her. But we dont' get a lot of visitors. I don't mind if the fvcker scratches me up, but I"m more scared of it getting my wife since she tries to calm it down when she goes through the roof.

Last night, she got out, and was gone for about an hour. I didn't see her get out......but she ususally comes right back in. When I saw her, I could tell she had just come back from hell. so I just coralled her to the steps and let her in. After she got in....she proceeded to go to blows with all the animals we have here.....unprovoked mind you....just highly pissed off.....and going to town on all of them. Hissing, making a massive ruckus. Since it was 1:00 in the morning, I had to put her in a cage in a separate room by herself....but I had to put gloves and a coat on to pick the poor possessed soul up......

I hated to pressure her like that...but it was time for sleeping....not listening to WWIII of the Evil Cat vs The Dogs and the other cat.

But....starting about a mohth before we moved it's been like she's in a different stratosphere. Frankly...I'm about at my end of patience for the cat...where my sorrow at getting rid of it is displaced by the complete frustration of having to put up with it's antics.

Dude animals are pretty cool. They hang around the house and do stuff and come to see you when they're bored. You should try getting a furett, it's really fun.

did you read the thread?

Sounds like a really difficult situation. 🙁

Only other thing I can think of (and you said you're doing this tomorrow) is getting her to a vet, make sure it's not something medical (like she's in pain).

The vet can also give her medicine to calm her.
