Lets compare the internet to traditional services.

Cable tv costs $40 and for that I get close to 60 channels, a pretty decent selection if you ask me, but that's it. $40 and I watch tv all I want.

But with the new internet, you'd have to pay $40 to get connected (DSL) and then you have to pay several dollars a month for various subscription services.

Personally, that's my problem with paying for content.

I'm gonna have to agree with Frosty on this one.

Get cable internet. It's cheaper and faster than DSL.(except on uploads)

I have yet to find anything on the internet that is worth paying any money for in order to use, except maybe ATOT. If it went all pay tomorrow, I would most likely cave and pay for it. Happily it is free though :D

Depends on the area. In my 'hood, DSL is $5 cheaper, as fast as cable AND is much much more reliable.

ANd if you want premium channels you have to pay extra for that as well.

same thing on the internet. Thhe content providers NEED revenue to continue to create and distribute content.

If your ads don't pay the bandwidth costs to distribute it then it really doesn;t make sense to create the content anyhow.

I have no problem paying for content IF that content have some value (be it real or entertainment). The providers of that content have every right to get reimbursted for their time and effort or at least to attempt to get reimbured.

True if ATOT went total PAY (no free forums) then the traffic would drop drastically BUT they are losing money (ie they would be better off financially to just shut down the forums) Anand knows the value of these forums however and has chose a very fair alternative.

If you don;t want to pay for content then don't!:Q no one is forcing you to pay they are only forcing you to pay if you want to read or listen to or watch their creation!

SO keep milking the free stuff, and if you want premium service PAY FOR IT!
