I was pretty sure socket F was going to be in an LGA style package like the current Intel chips. Other than that I think it's pretty much just a server version of the current AM2 chips.
So far as I know, just "the usual": the socket-F Opterons will require registered RAM and come in varities that can be used in multi-CPU configurations. I haven't seen any benchmarks of Socket F Opterons yet.
