Why hasn't W. been asked to talk about steroids?

This steroid investigation is so freakin' crazy! Congress is saying that everybody in baseball knew about it and that they looked away for the profit of the game as it recovered from the strike. They are right, of course.

However, if you're gonna say that the commisioner and the GM's and the players and the union all knew about the problem how can you absolve ownership? Our sitting president was the owner of the Rangers when Canseco played there and was the Managing General Partner (GM's Boss). If Canseco came there and got Pudge, Juan Gonzales, and that Viagra pitch man on the juice like he says (the whole issue assumes that Canseco is telling the truth-so let's stick with that assumption) then what are the odds that George didn't have any idea?

I thought it was odd when George made the impassioned plea during his SoU address that athletes not use steroids and clean up, what with him being a former owner and all. But I chalked that up to him fighting for his own as he has the entire rest of his presidency. Now I think that he was playing a huge game of CYA before the fact, since he probably knew about the grand jury testimony and knew that eventually he would need to explain this.

Anybody else think that it's great timing for Congress to start this fight? Right before the season, but almost a year after they knew about it...how interesting.

If you never hear from me again, it's probably the Feds who flew over my house...

Decent article, but it doesn't mention the actual facts that I already stated. By Congress' own accusation, the president should have and likely did know about the use of illegal drugs in his own clubhouse.

I guess this does pale in comparison to his drunken driving arrest and cocaine rehab, but still...what a joke. I'm about ready to move to Canada.

At least you don't have far to move.

He was the Managing General Partner. That means that the other owners chose him as their representative to the front office. He would have been the closest owner, partial or not, to any information about steroid use.

I think being son of the sitting president in addition to your 1.8 and your status as managing general partner would give you all the administrative power you need.

NTM that the issue I'm bringing up is that Congress is saying that steroid knowledge in baseball was pervasive and that Selig and Fehr had a responsibility to know. Well, Selig is a layer further away than anyone with an ownership stake so for him to know, ownership would have had to know.

Hahahaha Hohohohoh Hehehehehe

Seriously your obsession is sad.

As for the steroid issue. What a waste of taxpayers money and time. Is this really a life or death issue at the capitol?
