Haswell is powerful enough to run old games while replicating A3D 3.0 in those that used it, doesnt it?
I understand that a lot of old games are busted on modern drivers (fog, especially blending, depth calculations and some other things) despite it being super easy to fix at least for GK110 hardware (i.e., i am guessing the simulation of legacy fog format calculations would require double precision or good integer performance). but maybe if there were an A3D simulator then that would motivate nv and AMD to make better drivers.
