Why has Nissan never released the Skyline in the U.S.?

Just wondering. Is it because of the 300z (and soon to be 350)? I'm not a huge fan at all of imports but it seems like Nissan would make a killing if they released it in the U.S.

There is a differnce between people who want to buy it, and people who actually can buy it. Most people of that income level already have familes and prefer SUV's unfortuanatly.

Exactly what I was going to say. The riceboy fanatics can't afford it, & those who can have an eight letter word keeping them from doing it - MATURITY.

Viper GTS

uhhhhh.... no....

a 40 thousand dollar car is easily affordable with today's younger genx/geny crowd. the reason why the skyline isnt availiable in the united states is the same reason that the WRX was raped and the Lancer Evo is going to be raped (detuned). American emission laws are way more strict than japan.... it would be very expensive to make the car emissions friendly and yet powerful.

276 hp in the skyline would prolly be 230 hp in america. And for 40 grand, id rather buy antother car than a 230 hp skyline.

Because the powers that be fear that the massive collective fap..fap...fap from the Nissan fan-boys could possibly cause the Earth to be thown from its natural orbit of the Sun.

300z(fairlady) was already in u.s.
they can't sell both in the u.s. market

look at honda, they're dropping prelude and go with RSX(integra)

LOL...🙂

such a cool car, I love driving it in Project Gotham Racing. There is little demand for it though..

Semi-related: Why do many Europeans jump on America for having lax pollution laws? The Japanesse cars allow for higher emissions standards than here, why do the Europeans feel that they need to bash America? I think they are just jealous of our prosperity...

just fyi, you can get the skyline

it's availible only at one shop in so cali, for a measly 90g's

That 276 in Japan is probably more like 320. By Japanese law you can't have a car with over 280 hp.

its probably more to do with the market then emissions. nissan already has altima/maxima..adding skyline is crowding their product lineup quite a bit😛

frankly..most people don't know what a skyline is.

"...it would be very expensive to make the car emissions friendly and yet powerful..."

Damn, I wonder how much power the Corvette would have if it were as "EPA dirty" as the Skyline? :Q

the next VQ35 version, with direct injection, is going to be making right around 300 HP, so i don't see why a skyline (AKA G35) couldn't make that.

WTF does maturity have to do with owning a fast car? What should mature people be driving? Minivans?

"WTF does maturity have to do with owning a fast car?"

I'll take a stab at it. Why own a "fast car" at all? To race on a track? That's one good reason. Any other reason would likely not be too... MATURE!

Most peole who do own fast cars do race it at the track...don't they?

All the owners of Ferraris and Porsches and Corvettes, etc.. I'm sure they are all raced at the track?

The Maturity comes in when why would you spend $90k on a car?

"Most peole who do own fast cars do race it at the track...don't they?"

My guess would be, no, or are you being sarcastic? 😉

I'd love to own a nice fast car. I'd never take it to the track. I'd use it to blow ricers into the weeds! Yes, I'm totally immature! 😛
