Hm. Yeah, EA is successful, so they must be bad. Darn them to heck! Oh, and with the exception of the EASports line, EA doesnt make games, they just publish them... So any complaints about "not fixing games that are broke in Win2k" or whatever, should be aimed at the developers, not the publisher. Thats like saying it's Wes Craven's fault that
Dracula 2000 sucked.
Its funny that
kevin000 mentions that they were running the Sims into the ground... What's even funnier is that The Sims is a 3 year old game that they keep releasing expansions for, and is currently the best selling game EVER. Sims Online was an experiment, and its sure it's failing but they may actually fix it to make it a worthwhile avatar chat room.
LordRaiden despite your lack of an original nick, you also don't know much about Westwood and EA (who joined forces in 98). Red Alert 2 is a C&C game. Command and Conquer: Red Alert was the original, and was fantastic, as is Red Alert 2. The C&C: NOD / GDI struggle (Tiberian series) hasn't really changed the formula from day one. It's the same as it was when they started out, with some upgrades to graphics and new units, etc. C&C: Generals is a tremendous addition to the C&C universe. It's just funny that you poo-poo EA up and down, then say "I'll just stick with my Red Alert 2, thank you very much." If you need any more information on what exactly the C&C franchise consists of, let me know, or visit:
http://westwood.ea.com/.
draggoon01 the quote "the mod may make the jump to being an expansion pack. " is a possibilty, there isnt anything written in stone. Kinda like when my mom told me "Jim, You'll grow up and be president one day!" I mean, it could happen someday, but no one really knows for sure. The guys behind DC are well on their way to doing what every modder wants to do, get recognized and get paid. It's what we call a "success story".
Everyone needs to stop trying to find fault in everything out there. If it wasn't for companies like EA, you wouldn't have the plethora of games to choose from and download off of IRC, not to mention QA would probably be 100x worse than it is because the tiny dev houses just dont have the resources to test as much as they do with a company like EA backing them.
