Why firearms belong in the hands of individuals, not the state

It costs the tax payer money to make it a collective right.

It makes us less safe to make it a collective right or to place restrictions on individual rights to keep and bear arms.

Adolf Hitler and FDR believed it was a collective right.

Collective ownership of firearms is dangerous to life, liberty, and property, which is a major reason why I prefer the Articles of Confederation--it was a peaceful, agrarian, and disarmed state; under the Constitution the state has been industrialized, armed and the citizenry has been disarmed. It's the same as comparing Sega's Sonic CD's Past to its Bad Future. If we were under the Articles of Confederation, we would be in the Good Future today, because Sonic (Thomas Jefferson) would've destroyed the evil Dr. Robotnik (Alexander Hamilton).

The results of arms can be drastically different between having them in the hands of the state vs the hands of the citizenry.

The state should be disarmed and collective ownership of firearms abolished.

Why shouldn't the state be disarmed?

They got bought out a while ago by the same peeps who run Discovery. So now, instead of actual historical content (they still do that - just not consistently) - we get a twist on "Reality TV".

While I'm sure it helps ratings, I agree that the "History" is pretty scant...

Institute a federal death penalty for any crime committed with a firearm. Get rid of any criminal permanently if they use a firearm. Require execution with 48 hours. If the police and the courts dont get serious about things like firearms and stealing cars, then they all deserve to die. I am also for an mandatory death penalty for stealing a car.

What is very interesting is that the pro Muslim religion of peace people are using events that happen in the United States to some how prove that the Muslim religion is no different than any other religion.
What people forget is as a country the United States is totally unique in many ways!!
I did not say the United States was a better country -- I said unique!

Many thing that we take for granted such as freedom of speech, freedom to worship as we choose are things that happen in a few other countries but for the most part are what makes the United states what it is.
Of course we have police agencies who protect the right of all Americans Muslim, Budhist, Catholic...etc...

I have many Muslim friends, who know how I feel about the vast majority of Muslims and they agree with me for the most part.

This being the USA we all have a right to our own opinion.
Of course if I went back to Israel to live I probably even in Israel could not be so out spoken.
But to try to use how the United bstates treats Muslims as an example or as proof the the Muslim religion is the religion of Peace is just ludicrous.

So a toothless government puts out a draft for their armed citizens to report to abandoned military bases with either their privately owned hodgepodge of firearms, or to draw up antique government owned firearms, or to take out archived tanks and planes, or to report to mothballed ships rusting away dockside, and to then travel around the country via their private vehicles or outdated military carriers, to repulse a cohesive invader with a diverse and unprepared group of random citizens.

Word. One set of laws for all citizens, regardless of position, period. Return to the actual laws and allow lethal force by citizens as a response to any felony in progress. Implement the death penalty for all life sentences, and require it to be carried out cheaply (like, a bullet in the pan) within one year from sentencing.

Once you've dealt with career criminals in these ways overall gun violence will drop significantly. Of course, you'll still have a huge number of deaths since so many are from suicides. If you want those to go down then you need total universal health care with included mental health care.

Even then there's going to be more than most other places, but at least it would be more reasonable.
