I bought a EVGA 7900GTO back in Oct. 2006 and it has been in my main rig ever since (Moved over to consoles for gaming, nerded out on home theatre, went to school). Well, the card died a few weeks ago and remembering it had lifetime warranty, I rma'ed it. They are sending me back a 9800GTX+ as a replacement! Glad that I didn't choose to save ~$5 by not buying a card without lifetime warranty. Just thought I'd post this here so people who are looking at new graphics cards know how much of a boon LTW can be down the road.

Can this go on forever? Keeping your card until it breaks and replacing it for a newer gen one as a means of being upgraded for life?
Well, theoretically EVGA does warranty the cards for life (indefinately) in North America (by law only 10 years in Europe). I suppose that most cards do not fail, and/or most people get a new card or upgrade before failure, or just plain forget that they have lifetime warranty. You do have to register the card within 30 days of purchase to qualify and it has to be purchased from an authorized reseller (no Ebay).

Just remember 'lifetime warranty' can refer to a few different kinds of lifetimes.

Not all are lifetime, but a lot are.
I was going to post something dumb, then I figured out what you were referring to. lol.BFG does, too.

Hi, my brother is RMA'ing a EVGA card of his own that has gone bad...Im wondering how you found out you are getting a 9800gtx+ in place of your old card. Did they email you and let you know or did the better card arrive at your door.
Im curious cause he is rma'ing a Gtx285 "superclocked" edition card, and from what I have seen those cards tend to have overheating issues [which is why he is RMA'ing]...Hopefully he gets a upgrade like you did that is not a card known for overheating.

A few months ago they replaced my dead 8800gts with another 8800gts that lasted a good 45 minutes before it died also. I could RMA it back again, but im pretty much at the point of losing money by shipping it back when i could just put the cash towards a 4650 and call it a day. Hopefully you have a different experience.
@peonyu: When your rma is processed after you return your defective card they will tell you what you will be shipped in an email(in the form of a serial #). I believe their policy is a card which is at least equivilent to what you are returning. I'm not sure how they decide what and equal card would be.

XFX has what they call a double lifetime warranty. What that is, the original owner is covered and if he sells it the second owner is covered too. so it's basically a transferable warranty but it covers only one transfer.

i will pray for you that you don't get any of the 4 9800gtx cards that they 'upgraded' me with... i rma'd an 8800gt and was happyish to get a 9800gtx, even tho it was huge and loud and hot because it was a little upgrade for the kid who's pc it was from...
but it took 3 more return trips to get one that worked, and that one was downclocked to 9800 specs... i was pretty disappointed...

Six months after getting a evga 7900gt sli set up a 2nd card goes bad.
I rma the 7900 and evga sends me back a new 7950 card.

Several years ago I had a Geforce 5800 or something like that go bad, called up EVGA 3-4 years after the card was made, they shipped out a Geforce 7800 OT, or maybe it was a 7850, something like that, anyways it was a heck of a lot better card but then 6 months later PCI-E and all that hit the market and AGP was old skool. From what I understand,they will only replace the original purchased video card - so if you have a replacement and IT goes bad, you gotta buy a new unit, that's what I remember from the convo I had with them many years ago.
I also recently purchased a Geforce 460 and sent in my rebate stuff, 3 weeks later the $30 rebate card showed up, 3-5 weeks earlier than they stated in their submission paperwork.
