A thought just occured to me. God is almighty, he could've made food an optional thing. You can eat, but if you don't you'll still be fine.

So why did He choose to make food a must?

One possible explanation:
If food is not a must, everyone will just slack off all day. Waking up only for sex. Civilization will never improve.

My $.02. :p

It's no food..... no sex !!!

sex is a subset of food...

have you never seen what happens when you have group of men in a room & a woman walks in ?.......... what happens ? The men start to sniff & soon they all look at the woman... Then.. Nowdays social stuff takes over...

in olden days they all rushed over & sniffed the nookie to see if it was good to eat... This hardly ever happens anymore due to clothes & baths & stuff. It is still there, however, all the other animals still do it.

Smell & taste are part of food appreciation. we learn to associate good smells with good taste in food & then we carry this over to women.

Have you ever noticed what happens when you go to a fish market & a woman walks in ? nothing, nothing at all....

This is because the mens nookie sensors are overwhelmed.

Ahhha, for the good ole days...!!!

Well, if you really believe this, then why don't you ask him? Aren't the xians supposed to have God's pager number?

Seriously, this gets at the whole Irony of Life: "Life is rare and precious in this universe, yet to sustain life, life must destroy life." -- Somebody up there had a hell of a sense of humor! Why didnt' they (whoever "they" are) design us so we could eat rocks or something... I mean, the same atoms that are in plants and animals (like hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen) can be found in just about everything, yet we have to wait until it has formed complex molecules and amino strains before we can munch away.

Why does life destroy life? That is the question.

Why does everyone assume that rocks aren't alive?

Yes its those 8 essential amino acids & 3 essential fatty acids, plus a little bit of cellulose that force us to eat, just about everything else - (virtually all) vitamins & even carbohydrates (sugars) can be made synthetically, while what other essential nutrients are minerals.
