Why don't you drive a manual?

Just wondering what your reason is.
I'm sure there's probably more than one reason, but what's your biggest?
Daily driver only please, so don't tell me your S2000 is stick but you only drive that once a month in the summer.

bought used. didnt have much of a choice. the car was in really good shape with really low miles and well taken care of. that's more important than getting a manual like i wanted

Because my wife doesn't know how to drive a stick.

My next car is going to be a manual though. She gets free loaner cars when her car goes in the shop so I don't care if she can't drive my car.

I enjoy drag racing, and as such, a stall converter in an automatic is almost always preferred over a manual.

honestly I don't really know how. I knew when my dad had an S-10 like 9 years ago, but I rarely drove it.

Really though, it's annoying and pointless. I'd rather have an automatic transmission, it's irritating having to shift manually

Where is the "It's a PITA to steer, smoke, hold a beer, and shift" option?

Because I'm lazy (don't enjoy it)

So because I don't enjoy it, I obviously must be lazy? Nice generalization.

Because I have one car for wringing out on country roads and I don't need another. I recently committed the biggest automotive sin on ATOT by trading in my Mustang GT (RWD, manual) for a Volvo S70 T5 (FWD, automatic), but I'm very happy with the choice. For a commuting car, the S70 is vastly better than the Mustang (and I did truly love the Mustang). I have 4 doors, space for people, I don't have every moron in a Civic trying to race me, and I'm not spending half my commute slipping the clutch to keep moving with traffic at 2.5 mph. I am very happy with the decision. I'm also saving $1,000/year on insurance over the Mustang with the same coverage.

Yes, I've wussified my daily driver in the eyes of ATOT but I don't really care.

Fine, edited and added new option.

Mine's one of those auto-manual or is it manual-auto. Except to test it once to see if it's working I haven't used it since.

I drove an automatic before going off to school.

Reasons: It wasn't mine, I'm lazy, it's easier to drive an automatic, traffic was typical suburban stop and go, and I don't know how to drive a stick.

That's not a manual. Manual is shifter + clutch.
So DSG/SMG drivers, you are driving an auto according to my terms :p

I do really miss my 5 speed, but an automatic is much easier on me with my back/shoulder injury.

Driving with my left arm controling the wheel causes a lot of pain in my left back/shoulder area.

Oddly enough, with my automatic, I still predominantly drive with my left arm. Guess it's just a habit from so many years of driving stick.

My car has a 5 speed manual. My truck has an auto because that's all that's offered with the larger engine.

I prefer an auto for daily driving, but having a stick is fun most of the time.

Because when I'm driving to and from work, I'm just commuting. I have my two stick-shift cars for leisure.
