why don't we trade with Cuba?

tldr: Don't be our neighbors and point nuclear missiles at us and expect to get away with it.
 
If those fucking commies want to trade with the center of democracy in the world, they better get off their asses and start making us iphones and low cost American flags and shoes. I demand the finest sweatshop craftsmanship there is.
 
The well to do Cuban expats (and their American born descendants) in South Florida are against it and they contribute heavily politically.
 
Cold War era grudges. I live in Florida and even I think the embargo is stupid. The embargo hasn't done anything to capitulate the Castro regime. The only individuals to suffer are its citizens.
 
China is not communist. They just say they are. Cuba is closer to true communism than almost any country in the world.
 
No good reason after the end of Cold War. For a while, it was politics, but Florida wouldn't change the outcome of last 2 presidential elections, so Obama and the Democrats should have lifted the embargo in 2008. Florida is a must win for the GOP, so they aren't going to do it.
 
The Cuban government does not run on any set rules or order. They are impulsive and neurotic, they will do whatever they feel like it whenever they feel like it. Many US owned companies were seized by the cuban government after the "revolution", they communist took whatever they wanted from American companies, and Cuban people.

I don't think that any change with Communist government in place is a good idea, unfortunately after 50 years the population has adapted to the system, the mindset cannot be undone quickly (google Miami corruption). If the Cuban government is gone, it will take many years to rebuild an honest and hardworking society.

Castro, for the majority of Cubans was actually a good thing. Prior to Castro, White-Cubans [those of full Spanish descent] dominated the country similarly to how the US south was dominated by White folks...The majority of Cubans then and now are mixed race or Black and since Castro took power, segregation was ended in Cuba. And non-White folks gained the rights they were denied for centuries...Of course the white-cuban exiles in Miami hate Castro and want to see him punished for kicking them out, and thats why we only hear of their version of events there.
 
Well certain people owned property in Cuba and the communists just took it all without paying for it. This is what socialists and communists like to do. They steal everything you own and throw you in jail. How can we trade with a country that does not honor property rights?

Sure we could trade with them a little, but we still cant trust them. From a humanitarian point of view we could help them out a little. The soviets use to support them because they wanted to spread communism everywhere. However, we trade with China and I dont trust china either. I refuse to eat anything that comes from china.

After slavery ended in the USA slave owners would buy slaves and use places like Cuba to build plantations outside of the USA. Slavery is true evil.

You have to understand how the slave trade worked to have a historical reference. USA was not the only country with slaves.

The majority of Cubans that remain on the island are starving. Very few people know that truth as to what's going in there. I don't necessarily like our current president and i've voiced my opinion. I can guarantee that im not writing this from a life sentence in jail, and i will not be killed by a firing squad (at least it doesn't look like it for now). The Castro regime systematically eliminated the opposition, it still goes on today. The most powerful force at play in Cuba's history is envy, that's what installed Castro.

Please stop spreading your propaganda if you have not lived there, or maybe you have... That's how the Cuban government works, infiltrating, planting people, misinformation.

i say the revolution was good in the beginning
the old regime before castro was definitely no good
then everything unfolded within the cold war scenario
castro wasn´t really hardline communist at first, wanted to get the usa´s blessing
instead usa drove him right into the arms of the soviet union over property rights of some corrupt bunch of people at the top, who had been stealing 90% of the islands wealth for themselves, and over that reeking fishy like "communism"in the bipolar situation of the time
so castro went and asked the other superpower of that era to back him up

after going into "camp soviet union" the castro people had to play by their rules and became a dreadful suppression of their own people themselves
it´s kind of tragic as so often

i hope the communist government perishes soon and cuba opens up

Commies act like having money or being wealthy is a bad thing. There are a lot of wealthy people who worked their a**** off, and made good decisions along the way. Wealthy people create jobs for others and Communism is the equal sharing of misery for everyone. This is probably why there is no Cuban equivalent of Elon Musk, Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, etc.

Also if Mr. Castro had good intentions, he should have given power back to the people, held elections.
