why don't they use x800xl video 'cards' in laptops

they seem like great chips because they don't suck up as much juice as others, like the 6800go ultra or whatever, but still have 16 pipelines. if they are in laptops, which ones are they in?

You hit it on the nose, they suck up too much juice and run too hot.

they use less power than the x800 mobile and the 6800 go ultra, iirc, and on desktop systems, they dont even need a power connector, they are the quick cards that get all their juice from the pcie slot (75w max). the desktop versions of cards i mentioned need the 75w from the pcie slot, then an additional power connector (or two!!). then think if they took the already, comparatively, low power chip, lowered the core speed and voltage a bit, it would be a good contender. i just thought it was a good idea, and wondered if anyone had seen such a laptop.

Compare that to the 60W+ of the 6800U go

I guess it would be best called a Mobile X800XL, 'cuz it definitely won't have the clocks of an X800XT in a laptop.
Regardless, its a 16-pipe PCI-E ATI X800 derivative

Nope, mobility X800's are 12 pipes; not 16

6800 nU go uses ~28.8W
6800 U go uses ~66W

X800 nP M uses <30W (all I know is 30W maximum, dunno specifics. Probably less than 6800nU)
X800 XT M (it's really an XL chip) uses ~35W
