why don't they use triple buffered V-Sync on consoles?

it seems even the new consoles are defaulting to adaptive V-Sync which tears frames when they drop below 60, don't they realize they could have their cake and eat it too with triple buffering? at the expense of very slight (1 frame) input lag you get fully V-Sync'd image quality at any framerate.

Triple buffering is not some be all end all holy grail. It requires more memory than double buffering and still does not approach the total lack of input lag that simply having no vsync at all offers.

There's no method for getting rid of frame tearing in existence right now that works well enough for me personally to choose it over no vsync at all so I don't blame game devs for their choices either.

Is this Anarchist420's alt? I mean it's like one of his threads but there isn't as much nonsense posted.

Regardles; dguy nailed it.

Technology like G-sync is the future, but you won't see it on current gen consoles. It's still somewhat new and needs refining but once it becomes wide spread in PC gamer circles a non-Nvidia alternative will eventually show up.

I thought you guys were just massive dicks to this user for no reason.
But now I see both these 2 accounts post and I'm just like "Oh wow... seriously?"
Not sure if this thread warrants it, but starting to see why you guys treat this user this way.

If they could build something like this into home TVs with special HDMI chips or something I would love that. In the future of course, the devices we have now wouldn't do it.

not sure what you are talking about here

i simply asked why consoles don't seem to ever use triple buffered vsync

anybody who is attacking me personally, has their own personal problems they need to deal with

obviously I have done nothing to warrant these attacks, it's just how the internet is, it's the worst of herd mentality and nobody fears getting punched in the face for being a dick so it's everybody's chance to be a dick

Why don't use this? Why don't they use that? This is really getting old from people trying to start a flame war with console gamers. They have good reasons not to use adaptive V-Sync. If you think you can do it and maintain acceptable frame rate on current generation of consoles, start learning how to code.

For anyone new to AnandTech Console Forums....here are some other awesome thread titles by futurefields:

Next-gen console performance and the multi-threading nightmare...

Why aren't developers locking down framerates more often?

Are next-gen consoles gonna be gimped by their weak cpu's?

I don't understand why console makers are bent on being so power-conservative?

This thread is just cleverly (*cringe*, that almost makes it sound like he is clever) disguised as being a legitimate technical question when it's really just console bashing.

Move along...
