I know this is a real stupid question. But why don't video card companys made RAM upgrades for the cards anymore? I think it just sucks that if someone wants up go from a Geforce2 32mb to 64mb that they have to find a way to get rid of the board and then buy a new one. Wouldn't it be better to have companys made ram card upgrades?

And then you wouldn't have a need to replace the board.....
Get it?
New board...more money for them!
Same thing when these computer companies talk about selling computers that you can't or have a hard time upgrading. When you want to upgrade you gotta go all the way....more money for them!!!

Bingo.

If the video RAM specs were common it would be nice to only buy it once and be able to transfer it to a RAM-less new card when discarding the old one. But that ain't gonna happen.
