First of all, you sould understand that if you go to the doctor, do you want one working on you that had to stay late and do extra work to make the passing 85% needed to graduate? I don't think so. Standards are set for a reason. If we let standards slide there would be Kaos in the world. It is a matter of principle. You may feel you deserve a chance to make up that .02%, but you were given that chance before the test. Life is a road full of choices. You live by your chioces, are defined by your choices, and will suffer by your choices. So next time you have a test coming up spend more time doing studies or find a different way to study. Get additional help before the test and maybe the teachers would be more leaniant with you after for showing that you are really putting your best effort in BEFORE the test. The choice is yours! The results are also yours!

I'm just messing with you man. I've got my friend running around in circles, I was going for the double duce.

I do think I got ripped off though, and I had to take 28 credits in 3 years. I had a 3.5 GPA there. That would be a 4.0 in Indiana.

Why doesn't the teachers like you? Spend your nights on ATOT and sleep in class?

I graduated top of my class, I could give one of these self-rightous speeches about personal accountability, responsibility, standards, etc. as one would accept in college.

However, this is 9th grade in high school. Most reasonable teachers still base grades partially on work ethic and participation rather than just tests. In accordance, if you were borderline teachers would give you the higher, or lower grade depending on these factors.

I'm in 10th grade and they didn't do it for anyone. I know these teachers like me since sometimes he'll say a joke and then I'll say something just the same only this time the class laughs at him. We both know its all in good fun too, so the problem isn't in them liking me. I have near perfect scores on all my homework and I work hard during class and labs.

Ok, the reason I ask is we both live in Indiana so we could probably compare that way...

over here i could care less if i got a B in my chem class. its honors, so it still counts as 4 points on UC apps.

im sure i can get all As in other classes. except for maybe spanish. the teacher is an idiot and a prick. i know what you mean when you say some teachers just dont understand. why do we have to learn foreign languages anyway. fck that.

I think the grading system here goes kinda like 90-92% is an A-, 92-98% is an A and 98%+ is an A+. Ours is kinda fvcked up, but its ok i guess.

Neither of them would give in or let me do ANYTHING at all for a point or two. I offered both essays, labs, research papers, cleaning up the room after school, WHATEVER they wanted me to do. Sure, its not a big deal, but when I show my parents a report card, it looks much better to have almost all A's and A-'s! I will have a B in math from my previous A because I didn't do so hot on the first test, in the end, I brought it up from a 66% to a B.

The thing is, I kind of set a standard for myself last grading period with all A's and A-'s... *sigh*

Oh yeah, neither of the teachers gave a chance for extra credit, but my Honors Chemistry teacher did curve our grades...

how about this, instead of posting an average of 23.55 times a day, DO SOME STUDYING. Teachers gotta make the cut off somewhere.

I understand they have to make the cutoff somewhere, but you should also realize that I get all my work done before posting here on ATOT, most days atleast.

If they do it for me, they will be required to for those students who also need it even though they may be kids who don't do jack $hit.

I consistently worked hard in high school and graduated as valedictorian. Then I realized it doesn't matter. If you learn that now you won't waste time needlessly worrying about grades like I did, and you'll have a better time with high school. So get over it, you'll be glad you did.

I see a lot of assholes in here trying to put the guy down because they somehow feel the need to talk about their grades and how smart they are. Why don't ya'll just try to STFU and stop trying to compensate penis size for brain smarts? Grades doesn't equate to EVERYTHING in this world and I realize that cuts both ways. Agabooga, don't stress over it. You did really well. And teachers, if given the opportunity, should show some leniency. As long as he/she shows hard work, that should tip the scale in the students favor. I believe helping boost a students motivation is more important than being all technical and fair when it comes to something so miniscule.

Well you're probably talking about me, so I'll respond. What I said is the complete truth. I spent waaaaaay too much time worrying about grades in high school just so I could get the almighty A. When I graduated, I realized how much time I had pissed away for nothing. I'm not saying you should just blow off high school, but some things just are not worth worrying about. If AgaBooga is telling the truth, he certainly isn't doing bad in high school. Sure, everyone loves to have straight A's, but it really isn't that big of a deal. If you consistently put forth a honest effort in high school and get decent grades, you'll be fine.

Now you have answered your own question, "Why don't teachers show just a little bit of slack for the student?"
