Why don't Pops like Mt. Dew have a decent tasting diet variation?

Just picked up a case of Coca Cola zero, tastes like normal Coke to me. Diet Mt. Dew on the other hand, tastes disgusting and nothing like normal Dew. Why is there no "Mt. Dew Zero" or something? I'd buy it.

Mountain Dew in any form always tastes like urine to me.

And before you ask, yes I do know what urine tastes like, but no I'm not telling you how/why I know.

I'm diabetic and drink diet Dew. Tastes fine to me. Regular Dew tastes like licking the inside of a bottle of corn syrup. Yuck.

Pepsi One tastes great but that is because they use Splenda instead of Aspertame. I don't know why more companies don't use Splenda for their diet soda... Tastes so much better.

psh, the two taste nothing like each other. The only relation between piss and mt dew is the fact that drinking dew turns my piss yellow.

Diet Dew is good. Its what i drink. I dont drink regular sodas anymore. I wish they would make a Diet Livewire though so i can taste it.

Coke Zero does not taste like Coca-Cola Classic. Granted, it is alot closer than Diet Coke and doesn't leave me with that awful aftertaste that Diet Coke does...but, it still doesn't match up IMHO.

Now that Diet Mt. Dew uses Sucralose along with Aspertame it tastes much better. I never could have switched prior to this.

Maybe it's because I grew up on diet cola. My dad was the pop buyer in my house, and he bought diet cola. To this day, I don't mind diet cola. In fact, for some brands I prefer diet cola. However, I started drinking copious amounts of Mt. Dew in high school (and continue to do so to this day). I didn't have diet Mt. Dew until ~3-4 years after I started drinking Dew; it was disgusting.

Zero is ok, but its still no regular. It is also fairly new, so Pepsico hasnt had a chance to come back with a similiar product.

I am sure it has something to do with the fact that sometimes the more unhealthy stuff tastes better.

But then again the many overweight people in my office prove that diet soda does nothing for their weight. I love their reasoning, well I had a diet soda today sooo I can have a few extra slices of chocolate cake and a small elephant on the side.
