Why don't people use there flashers?

I've been noticing how many people don't put on their flasher when they drive. I don't understand why they don't put on a simple thing like a flasher. I always put on my flasher even on the back roads where there?s no one (in case the animals are wondering what I'm going to do). Just today I was following some guy and he slowly came to a stop and waited for oncoming traffic to pass by and then he turned! I don't know why that guy didn't put on his flasher (common sense). I was think what the h*ll is this guy doing stopping the middle of the road for.

Anyways, I was discussing this with a friend, he was saying the same thing, and then he said, "Well what if they are talking to their friends or something". Exactly my point! If you?re distracted about anything you shouldn't be driving plain and simple. If you?re to distracted to put on a simple flasher, then you'd better pull to the side of the road before you kill someone.

When you?re distracted you should be driving!

People who don't put on their flashers irritate me because I find it?s a lack of respect for the other drivers and a lack of concentration, which could cause an accident.

i agree...im Maryland it was the worst...but everyone people have stopped using them...i mean most of the time its obvious, but is it really that hard to do anyway?????? get into the habit, so when u are in a situation where it will inform the other cars u do it

where i live, we call them blinkers 🙂

and yes, it is annoying... you have to get somewhere in a hurry, and everything is fine until the bastard has to wait to turn. if he had turned them on when he was FREAKING SUPPOSED TO, i could just go around him. but NOOO i'm stuck behind him because he's a mindless dolt.

Sometimes I think that the auto companies need to do a mass recall of their vehicles because the nut behind the stearing wheel can't activate the flashers. I also use them all the time, regardless if anybody's around me or not. It's better to stay in the habit of doing it than drop out of the habit.

on;y time you ever see some one flash their lights is if there is a police road block upahead, or if a speed trap is upahead

In cities like Berkeley, they don't like making bigger streets (lots of one-ways too) and no green arrows anywhere...There's lots of time to be gained for people using their blinkers

Flashers? The proper term is "turn signals", I believe. I use mine. Others don't. I guess they can't be bothered or it's just too hard to juggle the McDonald's, cell phone and 3-year old rugrat while indicating to others their turning intentions.

He was talking about turn signals. And both of those are legitimate occasions to flash one's headlights. It does bother me that a lot of people don't know that flashing headlights mean "I want to pass" though.

I hate the ones that cut in front of you and than stamp on their braks to make a turn all without using a turn signal.

Poorly phrased thread titles are also a minor annoyance. 🙂

Always wanted a bumper sticker that says 'Turn Signals Are Not a Factory Option'. My favourite is when someone gets into a turn lane and then puts on their turn signal. Why bother? It's not a suprise anymore.

I use mine sometimes. When it's neccesary.

switching lanes in traffic: use them.
Making a left turn at a stop sign, or from a regular street (i.e. - no left turn lane): use them.

Making a left turn from the left turn lane at a stoplight (where the lane is clearly marked with the left arrow, and you only go on a green arrow): don't use them, figure it's inplied.
On a mostly empty freeway late at night, approaching a car going slower than me, about 1/4 mile away: don't use them, just kind of drift over, and then drift back once I'm past, when there's no one around, there's not really a point to using them.

Yeah, those are some examples.

Yes it's as if their brain finally gets the clue. But I guess thinking after you act is better than not thinking at all.

Well to make you feel a little better, I always use my turn signal and I use flasher whenever the traffic slows down suddenly to alart the cars behind me.

On the other subject, I have been seeing so many morons driving around with their PARKING LIGHT at night. I can understand why car manufacturer's are installing all ways on light system.

I have a fantasy...

I approach a car, whose driver for some reason is turn-signal challenged.

I reach in the car

I break off turn-signal stalk

I yell at the moron "Ya didn't need it ANYWAY!!!"

Muhahahahahahahaha!

I use them all the time, even when there's nobody around. There might be someone around that I didn't notice, and it dosen't take that much effort to push the little lever up and down. It's not worth thinking about "Ok, now, I'm chainging lanes at night....is there anyone within a 5 mile radius of my car? <pulls out the binoculars and looks around> Nope! Ok, so I can change lanes without my turn signa---drat! Passed the exit!"

The preceeding example was a dramatization. I do not reccomend using binoculars while driving. I am not responsible for any accidents, crashes, skids, tickets, ect. if you decide to use binoculars while driving for any reason 🙂

where i live, we call them blinkers

Down South we call them turn signals. Flashers are the hazard lights.

It's a matter of laziness and lack of courtesy. Just one symptom of the downturn of society in the Age of the Commom Man.
