Why dont people seem to not like ULTRA products

Well, as your question has a double negative it actually states "Why do people like ultra products?" I don't think many people here actually like their products due to reliability issues. When it comes to PSU's you really do "get what you pay for" so getting a ultra x-connect for $19 AR seems to say they may not be any good. Combine that with a few bursting into flames in reviews and you have a product I will stay clear of.

They are probably ok for your average web surfer and email box but if you are a gamer, artist or other person who needs a reliable and powerful PSU these are not for you.

LOL!

I think the problems with some of the X-Connect failures buried them on this forum. Although I see reactions vary from forum to forum so I guess it's all in who you ask. I actually use an X-Finity 500W and an Aluminus case myself. 😀

What about the ALUMINUS it doesnt look to bad now does it compared to a bunch that just seem wacky ,I think its my best bet for 99.

Cause they make marginal products and rely on rebates to sucker-in less sophisticated customers. My neighbor purchased the Ultra 1GB DDR400 RAM for $45 after rebate and tax. The stick would only do 208MHz. I've owned Kingmax, Kingston, and Corsair value ram. All will hit at least 214MHz. The last two sticks of Corsair were purchased for $56. They run at 243MHz.

Read the reviews. How much can you say about an Aluminum case? 😛 I think it's the same as the Aspire X-Alien because the removable mobo tray and hard drive trays look identical, but the Aspire uses two 80's in the rear and the Aluminus is one 120MM. You could say the Aspire is a better value because it comes with a PSU, but you want to talk about a PSU that'll blow up in your face. 😀

furballi: Yeah. Heaven forbid the RAM actually runs at the speed it was spec'd to do. 😛 I think that's probably why they have their value RAM (the stuff at Radio Shack) and their "Extreme" RAM. I'm sure if it was capable of higher clock speeds at lower latencies they wouldn't be dumping it through Radio Shack.

i made the mistake of getting an ultra psu. now one psu and two rma's later, i've finally dumped ultra and purchased a neopower 480 - which is what I should have in the first place.

The same reason why none of us would buy a honda civic. Slap on a billion stickers and some 20 in rims.

It hit DDR400, didn't it?

Hope you don't have any problems with that one.

Yup...DDR400. A 4% margin of safety is too small for my taste. I'd rather pay $10 more for Corsair Value RAM if I can consistently squeeze another 6MHz from the chip. The lifetime warranty is worthless if Ultra decides to exit the RAM reseller business.

Good stuff. Mine works like a charm, but I feel like I should have gotten a truePower insted

I remember seeing the X-Connect being offered for nothing after rebates not long ago; which just about what it's worth.

No they arent. So what if they were?

I don't know what this has to do with Ultra but as much as 50% of a USA car is built from foreign parts.

The Ultra X-Connect ****** my HDD.

I was in denial for a long, long time -- then I realized that there was no other component in my system that was questionable but that.

I was considering a TP II 550, the Enermax EG565AX VE FMA 2, and the Seasonic S12-600, went with the neopower because of case size, the modular cabling, and my current config will never surpass it, even if i decide to SLi the 6600GT's.

wth is wrong with a honda civic. its only the third top selling car in america and probably even higher in other countries. you can't say something is bad when its know for reliability and quality and for a good price too. /rant

sorry i never owned an ultra product or a HIPER TYPE R product lol. thats crap is for newbs. =]
