Why dont More people Run the UD client?

1. Its for a good cause - helping cancer research at the moment.
2. Kinda proven to work. Worked in shortening Anthrax research at the origional onset of the project.
3. Run by people who know their stuff. "The director of the SETI@home project, Dr. David Anderson, is now the Chief Science Officer of United Devices." and "The core distributed.net development team joined United Devices at the end of November 2000. "
4. Pretty intense stats system. Tracks by CPU usage, Points turned in(adjusts points according to each pc's ability to turn in results), and Total real results turned in.
5. You can create a profile to have clients only run on certain days or at certain times. Perfect for the rough d2ol weekends.. at least put sunday to use!
6. Really easy to install and use client.
7. Really easy to get family or friends to agree to to increase output!

I dunno... seems like this project will be my new home for a bit unless something else really pops out at me. Only reason i see is that theirs only a windows client.

Click here to get to the UD page dont like it becouse of the inactivity of the UD team and there were many other reasons but I cant remember them anymore.

Reason number 1, the stats are insane! Also I think they only support windows.

And finally I really hate the client.

The client is not greatest, but the stats system is too easy to cheat. Definitely turned me off (though I still run it on some machines because I believe in the work the project is doing).

NOTE: The stats can be cheated by leaving the UD client running at low priority and running another project at a higher priority. The UD client still benchmarks as a fast processor, so when it finally turns in 1 return after a week, it gets insane amount of stats points assigned to it. basically, people can run more than one project and get full credit for both. :|

I had the UD client installed for a while, but I didn't like the client itself.

I didn't like the fact that there were three different ways to look at stats either. I also didn't like the fact that there was a lack of stats pages and such. Never anything posted about it in the forums. I may start running it again when SETI is over and SETI2 starts. I don't know if I want to run SETI2 or not.

well.. there are pretty decent stats pages now.. i think if we just focused on results turned in it would negate the other 2 stupid (IMHO) stats
