Why don't more people have big screen TVS?

Look at the average person's time spent in front of a tv. Now look at the worth of their house, car, etc. etc. and look at the quality of the average joe's tv. 28" (?) and like $400! No thanks. Next TV I buy is going to be big!

Same reason the average person spends $100 on a 14" monitor, but $3000 on their brand new Compaq 1.4GHz P4.

i love big screen TVs! I have a 73" Mitsubishi. It was expensive for me, but worth it.

<< Umm because Projection sets suck ass. >>

maybe yours suck ass b/c it's old, but new ones are great. New projection TV's kick arse and can easily display resolutions that most direct view TVs could never do.

Even if all projects do suck - you can get a large screen that isn't a projection TV. I mean check out a 36" Sony Wega, that doesn't suck too much!

konichiwa I know what you mean!

raspewtin I'm not talking about a damn movie screen! DAMN

Yep. I have a 46" (I think, maybe 48) GE projection TV, and aside from videogames you cant tell the difference between it and tube sets. And it completley blows away any older projection TV I have ever seen. The quality of the image is great - the picture shows perfect from any angle even.

how about the price issue? or how about them not caring enough about the size to get a big one? some just want the picture

27" (with features I wanted such as component video inputs) was the most I could afford when I bought my TV. Plus, I have a very expensive oak entertainment center (which was a gift) that will only hold a 27".

I'm sure I'll buy something bigger later on, though.

I spend more time on my computer than anything. Its not worth it to me. My sony trinitron tv will last till HDTV goes down in price.

I think I'll offer my oppinion that TV is suck. Video resolution on TVs is also locked, so its not like a bigger TV will give you better quality. Move closer to the set :). Now computer monitors is a completely different story.

my gf's ex had a big screen, she hated them.

I'd rather spend the Cash on my car personally. Tv rots your brain. I do tivo a few shows that i watch, but for the most part tv sucks. I watch pay per view and some movies now and then as well (free of course).

sucks to pay $36 /month for basic cable (no prems) and have nothing to watch. I guess that i'd rather work on my puters/online or my car.

Also they are a b*tch to move, and i live in an apartment.

Not all old projections sucked. We had a Sony unit circa 1982. It was absolutely BEAUTIFUL. I was so sad to see the day it died. The picture was simply incredible. Now all I got to stare at is a 32" Toshiba. Not bad, but not great. I NEED PLASMA PEOPLE!

Big TV? Ugh! I can't stand watching TV. For the little TV watching I do I want to get a tuner card and nice 24" monitor.

EDIT: But I do remember my parents getting that Sony Trinitron 27"....biggest baddest mofo I'd ever seen til I walked in a store once and saw like a 70 something inch

I have a 25" Sharp. It has s-video in (all I really need). But it's for a bedroom and I didn't want anything bigger.

i've got a 46 inch sony but projections are difficult because you have to get them re-calibrated every year (and cleaned)(well, you don't HAVE to, but i suggest it)...and that can add up unfortunately.

but i agree, the argument that "you watch so much tv, why not treat yourself well" works GREAT!

it really does make sense.

I got a 20" flat screen jobbie! Works wonders for me, as it only is a bedroom TV, anything bigger isn't really worth it...
