Why don't more CDs have CD-Text?

As the title says...why don't more record companies use it? I own about 150 CDs and can think of exactly TWO that use it. I can't see it costing any more to manufacture. Am I the only one that wishes more CDs came with it?

CD-Text includes the name of the artist, album title, and track titles encoded into the disc. When you put it into a CD-Text compatible CD player (which includes most CD players sold these days), it shows this information on the display. I like it because I can never remember the song titles for all my CDs.

Its because not a lot of cd players support cd-text. So, therefore, there isn't a lot of demand for it.

The CD player I bought in 98 and the one I bought in 2000 both support it...maybe I just happened to get lucky with my choices?

Just burn your own. I know Nero puts cd text on the cds. Easy cd might let you do it as well.

Yeah, I know, Nero can burn it. But I don't wanna have to make copies of ALL my discs.

Sony's got a 401 disc player out now. I'm thinking once the DVD ones are that capacity, I'll spring for one (but it's gonna have to play CD's, CDR's and CD-text (MP3 decoder on board would be nice too!)
