As a Mac Book Pro owner... I have no effin' clue. It makes me mad sometimes. Which is why I always have a mouse with me. This is my fourth mac (Two ibooks and a powerbook before) and it still annoys me.

They support it. Their new "Mighty Mouse" has right-click, and I think you can do right-click on their laptops by pressing CTRL-Click or something.

Do you know that you can configure your MacBook Pro to right-click when you tap 2 fingers on the touchpad?

edit: but yeah it's dang annoying not to have a dedicated button

It's control click and I think double click on the track pad... Right click has been supported for a number of years... I'm not sure why they can't just add another button to it.

Well Mac is designed to be easy to use - a single button, one-click access to everything. Their menu system is much more organized than Windows (just look at System Preferences). But if you're a switcher, you'll find it annoying. I always carried a mouse with mine :p

They do! Just get a 2+ button wheel mouse if you wanna right-click stuff on a Mac... it's supported under Mac OS X.

Apple has never made a mouse worth a damn anyway. The old "hockey puck" mouse from the old iMac was the worst... The designer for that thing should be shot. :|

Macs do have contextual menus (accessed with Ctrl+click when I last used a Mac about 8 years ago), and you can buy two-button mice for Macs.

tap the touchpad with two fingers (if you have a mac laptop), hold down the click button, or get a two button mouse. they all work in OS X.

Because they're supposed to be easy enough to use that more than one mouse button isn't necessary. You might want the right button simply because you're used to it.

I'd want the extra mouse buttons because otherwise, I feel like those extra fingers are going to waste. My index, middle, and ring fingers are all there waiting for a task. One mouse button seems like it's wasting those resources. I like my 4-button mouse, thank you very much.:D

They do. The Mighty Mouse has four buttons and a vertical / horizontal scroll wheel.

BTW, OS X has always supported two button mice, wheels, scrolling, etc..

The trackpad of a MacBook Pro also supports scrolling and right click. Just use two fingers instead of one to scroll or right click. It's actually very simple.

I deal with a lot of Apple users on a regular basis and none of them have the inability to understand and/or use one.

Just like how PC snobs are confused that OS X has supported two buttons since it's release and how all PowerMacs and iMacs have four-button scroll mice that ship with them?

Apple are morons, it's so easy to just design the touchpad to look like it's a one button but with different pressure areas, so that those that want one button action can have that in their settings and those who want two button action can have that in their settings too.

Meanwhile I will go back to my Thinkpad with three mouse buttons .

BTW I wouldn't be able to live without using my middle button to scroll and open links in new tabs under Firefox, it just makes life so much easier :D

I love the Thinkpad mouse. The middle button is fantastic.

That being said, I can't run OS X on a Thinkpad but I can run XP/Vista on a MacBook Pro.
