I'm really mad right now. I recently bought a Dell Inspiron 8200 and I've been having problems with the modem. It causes the system to hard lock sometimes when disconnecting. When it does that I'm forced to hold the power button for 5 seconds to turn the system off.
Well one time when I turned it off I heard this really bad sounding noise. It couldn't have been the speakers as they were off. I realized it must be the HD. I just ran chkdsk and I have 14 bad sectors. This is a 3 week old IBM TravelStar 40GB. I can't believe it... 3 weeks old and I already have to RMA it. Anyone know if Newegg will let me RMA a HD just because it has bad sectors?
If laptop makers would just add a reset button this problem could have been avoided. After all they do add all those buttons we never use.
