Why don't I have sound?

I just installed a Sound Blaster Live I bought off here and I don't have sound. It's XP compatible, and Windows installed the drivers and there are no yellow question marks. I've tried everything, but I can't get it. Any ideas? There isn't a cable that connects the sound card to the motherboard or anything anywhere is there?

What kind of speakers do you have..? Have you verified that you've correctly plugged in your speakers into the correct area on the sound card..? Are you sure your "mute all" is not checked in your volume settings..?

I've got Juster surround sound speakers. I plugged them into every one of the ports and nothing. I checked the "mute all" too and it was fine. I have onboard sound also and the speakers work fine when I plug them into it. I checked my BIOS to make sure all that was right as well, and it was. I don't know what's goin' on!

Disable your onboard sound and make sure your primary sound card is set to the soundblaster live, not the onboard sound..

Evidently the onboard sound is not disabled. But there's nothing in the BIOS that will do it that I can see. Could there be a jumper on the motherboard somewhere?

Nothing is evident unless you tell us.. You did mention how the onboard sounds works, you didn't mention whether you disabled it after installing the SB live and I never assume a single thing as that can make an ASS out of U and ME.. Uhm..

I don't know what's goin' on. It's working now, but only the front sound works, not the rear. I appreciate all your help.
