Why don't DVD players have a jog/shuttle control?

It seems like there are no DVD players with a job/shuttle. You know that awesome thing on the remote that allows you to rotate a disc for frame by frame or turn a knob left or right for forward/reverse at different speeds. I hate using buttons for that.

well my current one has a jog (I think that's the right one, the one that controls forward/reverse speed) but no shuttle.

But that stuff needs to be on the remote darnit!

That'd be nice. I don't know if most DVD player's processors can keep up with it though, even my computer spazzes out when forwarding/rewinding DVDs.

No the shuttle dial function allows full control of each frame by frame forward, backward, freeze, send to TIF, etc. Of course it's all components - transport, mpeg decoder, audio decoder, mixer, etc. The equivalent of an audiophile (vidiot hehe) should have such a system. ;)

wouldn't be hard. Just have a decent sized buffer on the player.

Just seems like they don't put them on the remote.
